Jimmy Buffett, a legendary singer-songwriter who captivated millions of fans with his laid-back and humorous songs, such as “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, and “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, had three children during his lifetime.
A successful businessman, philanthropist, and author, Jimmy Buffett amassed a net worth of $1.9 billion before his death on September 1, 2023, at the age of 76.
Most people know a lot about Jimmy Buffett, but what about his kids? How did they grow up under the shadow of their famous father? And what are they doing now?
Savannah Buffett
The first of Jimmy Buffett children we take a look at is Savannah Jane Buffett.
Savannah Jane Buffett was born on June 1, 1979, in Aspen, Colorado. She was the first of the three children of Jimmy Buffett and he welcomed her with his second wife, Jane Slagsvol, whom he married in 1977.
Savannah inherited her father’s love for music and travel, and had a passport before she could walk.
She spent her childhood moving around different places, such as New York, Nashville, Malibu, Aspen, St. Barths, and many tour buses.
As a teen, Savannah gained admittance to a prestigious performing arts high school in South Florida where she studied theatre.
After graduating she moved to California to attend Pitzer College, a small liberal arts school, but after a few years and a growing involvement in the LA music scene Savannah left school and moved to Hollywood, where consulted for artists, worked in A&R, DJ-ing and even lived with members of Maroon 5 and Phantom Planet.
“It was a terrific time, there were tons of cool, developing musicians, and we just created this very low-key, vibe-y scene in this house we were living in. We had a rehearsal space, and built a studio in the backyard. It encouraged people to feel free to explore, jam and share all types of music.” Savannah revealed in her bio on her website.
She has also studied Film and English at the University of Miami.
Savannah began her professional career by co-writing two children’s books with her father: The Jolly Mon (1988) and Trouble Dolls (1991)5.
She then worked in the music industry as an A&R executive and a musical supervisor for films like Hoot (2006). She also did photography work for some of her father’s album covers.

During this time she helped numerous upcoming acts to get a line into the industry whilst ‘DJ-ing and promoting parties with a laid back vibe’. She also spent a ton of time traveling the world and visiting exotic locations such as Tanzania, Jamaica, and the Galapagos Islands.
Savannah’s passion for music led her to create her own radio show called Savannah Daydreamin’, which airs on SiriusXM’s Radio Margaritaville.
With the success of the radio show, Savannah later began touring with her father on a regular basis, hosting live pre-concert broadcasts where she played music and interviewed guests, fans and musicians.
She began sharing her own eclectic musical taste, travel ideas, fashion tips and experiences, leading Savannah to be dubbed a “Lifestylist.”
“For me, being a ‘lifestylist” means helping people to enjoy life – whether it is via music, fashion, athletics, travel or hosting a party, it’s all about finding ways to expand someone’s horizons.
“While I acknowledge I have been personally blessed, this isn’t about luxury; it’s about living your life in a positive way in both body, mind, and spirit.” she said.
Savannah Buffett also started her own apparel brand, A1A.
Along with her passion for music and art, Savannah is steadfast in her belief that it can also connect people in a very powerful way, working with a charity known as Playing for Change ( www.playingforchange.com ), an organization that aims to inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through music.
“I got involved after my dad passed along a video of “Stand by Me” being sang by various musicians from all over the world. I was immediately inspired and intrigued, as it incorporated three things I love so much: travel, music, and helping to make a better tomorrow, Savannah Buffet said of her decision to join the charity.
“They are an amazing organization and we have been working on some great projects together. It brings me joy to continue spreading their message that through the power of music, you really can change the world,”
Savannah also hosts a travel show called ExPats on YouTube’s Reserve Channel, where she interviews people who have left their ordinary lives behind to pursue their dream lifestyles in foreign lands.
The eldest of the three children of Jimmy Buffett is currently based in Miami, Florida, where she enjoys surfing, sailing, and yoga.
Aside playing for change, she is also involved in various charitable causes, such as the Surfrider Foundation and the Ocean Conservancy.
Savannah is married to her husband, Joshua.

Sarah Delaney Buffett was born on April 1, 1992, in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was the second of three children of Jimmy Buffett and Jane Slagsvol.

Sarah followed her father’s footsteps in becoming a storyteller, but chose a different medium: film. She studied film production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she graduated with honors in 2014.
Sarah has worked as a filmmaker and an activist for various social and environmental issues.
She has directed and produced several documentaries, such as One Small Step (2015), which follows a group of young women who travel to India to teach girls about science and technology; Unstoppable (2017), which profiles the life and achievements of surfer Bethany Hamilton; and The Ripple Effect (2019), which explores the impact of plastic pollution on marine life – all according to IMDB.
Sarah Buffett is also the founder and president of the All One Ocean Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to reduce ocean pollution by installing beach clean-up stations around the world.
She is also a board member of the Coral Restoration Foundation, which restores coral reefs through planting and education.

Cameron Marley Buffett was born in 1992. He was adopted by Jimmy Buffett and Jane Slagsvol when he was four months old.
Cameron is the only non-biological child of Jimmy Buffett, but he is loved and accepted by his family just as much as his siblings.
If you’ve been paying attention, you would have realised the first two kids of Jimmy Buffet have kinda followed in his footsteps with careers in the public spotlight – not Cameron!
The last of the three children of Jimmy Buffett has kept a low profile throughout his life.

Buffett was born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and spent part of his childhood in Mobile and Fairhope, Alabama.
He was the son of Mary Lorraine (née Peets) and James Delaney Buffett Jr.
During his grade school years, he attended St. Ignatius School, where he played the trombone in the school band.

The singer’s death was announced on his social media pages and on his website. In a statement released by the family, they said “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many”.
