According to online reports, Audrii Cunningham who was the subject of a custody battle between her parents was with her father who often left her with Steven McDougal Livingston Texas whilst he worked.
However, on Thursday morning, February 15th, Audrii Cunningham, 11 years old, went missing after failing to turn up to school.
She has since been the subject of an Amber alert that has captivated the entire continental United States.
Don Steven McDougal, of Livingston Texas, a man who has had several brushes with the law, is the main suspect in her case as the last person seen with Audrii.
Steven McDougal was arrested late Friday, February 16th, on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
On Tuesday, February 20th, authorities found Audrii Cunningham’s body in the Trinity River. A press conference is expected later to provide more details.
Polk County District Attorney Shelly Sitton said that officials were preparing a warrant for Steven McDougal on the recommended charge of capital murder following the discovery of Cunningham’s body.

Wice said murder is a legal term and prosecutors must prove a person was intentionally killed before seeking an indictment on murder charges.
Meanwhile, Blunt force trauma to the head can occur from any situation in which the victim’s head collides with a surface or object or when a flying or falling object strikes the victim’s head.
This type of injury can easily result in a concussion, skull fracture, and a penetrating injury that physically injures the brain.
Officials said McDougal admitted to leaving the house Thursday morning with Audrii and was supposed to drop her off at the bus stop, but he won’t reveal if she made it. Investigators added he was the last person to see her.
McDougal lived in a camper van behind the house Audrii, her father and other family members stayed in.

Don Steven McDougal received another charge when he was charged with capital murder for killing Audrii Cunningham and denied bond.

News emerged early Saturday confirming that authorities arrested Don Steven McDougal late Friday.
According to Breitbart, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Don Steven McDougal Friday night on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked him into the Polk County Jail at 11:50 p.m. on Friday.
His charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — a 2nd Degree Felony in Texas, could land him a sentence of up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

However, the charge is said to be unrelated to the disappearance of Audrii Cunningham.
In the latest updates, Steven McDougal has been named an official person of interest in the case.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Saturday morning also identified what they’re calling a vehicle of interest in the search for Audrii – a dark blue Chevrolet Suburban belonging to Don Steven McDougal.
Police located “a small backpack that likely belonged to a child” near the Lake Livingston Dam, according to a statement.
Audrii was carrying a bright red “Hello Kitty” backpack at the time of her disappearance, but police did not specify anything further about whether that matches the backpack they recovered.
According to reporting from multiple outlets including FOX 26, KHOU 11 and Click 2 Houston, Steven McDougal has past convictions for enticement of a child.

Audrii Cunningham, the 11-year-old found dead in a river five days after disappearing in Texas, died from homicidal violence with blunt head trauma caused by the suspect, Don Steven McDougal.
Her cause of death is “homicidal violence” and her manner of death has been ruled a homicide, Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences tells PEOPLE.
Officials at the institute did not comment when asked about other potential injuries.
According to more reports, Josh Cunningham was leaving his daughter with his roomate Don Steven McDougal Livingston Texas because he did not trust her mom, Cassie and felt she would kidnap her own daughter any chance she got.
“Hey have you seen Audrii? I dropped her off at the bus and she didn’t get on and hasn’t gotten home,” a screenshot of Don Steven McDougal Livingston Texas read.
Josh replied: “No Steven where the f#ck is my kid!!!”

Editorialising the chat, a Facebook user wrote: “It seems like many are suspicious dad’s shady friend (steven mcdougal) was involved in Audrii’s disappearance because allegedly he was to drop Audrii off at the bus stop but later informed dad that Audrii wasn’t home after school.
“Not sure if he lives with the dad (Josh) as a roommate or what. Mom (Cassie) isn’t involved in the search due to pressure from Josh because of his suspicions of Cassie’s involvement. Police have been to Cassie’s house,”
As mentioned earlier, one social media user stated categorically that Don Steven McDougal tried r#ping her when she was 10.
Another said he sent his pic of his unmentionables to another kid online.
“Steven McDougal is not someone I’d want around my little girl! This man tried to r#pae me when I was 10 years old. He was a brother of my parents friends,” one Carissa Gates blew the alarm.
One user replied: “OMG! Seethis is why I don’t let anyone live with me. Beacause I don’t trust a soul around my kids. I pray that little girl is okay. People like that should not be around kids,”
Carissa replied: “And he got away with it. Back in 2014 he got caught sending a little girl on Facebook a picture of his tiny little thang,”
