In her explosive divorce filing, Melody Duncan reveals that whilst her husband carries on a public facade of devotion to ‘family values’, privately, he has been carrying on an affair with his lobbyist mistress.

Melody Duncan adds she also believes Jeff has cheated with at least one other woman in their close to three-decade-old marriage.

She’s seeking reliefs including ownership of two properties, alimony, and a restraining order barring her husband from harassing her.

Liz Williams is a Washington DC based lobbyist and founder and owner of the lobbying firm Williams & Company.

The Jackson native is a University of Mississippi grad who has been accused of being the paramour of South Carolina congressman, Jeff Duncan.

Jeff Duncan’s wife Melody exposed the affair between her husband and Williams in a filing seeking divorce.

She revealed several sordid details of their affair, including the allegation they’re apparently now living together.

So who is the woman at the centre of this affair? DC Lobbyist Liz Williams is a veteran lobbyist whose firm has made millions of dollars across the years lobbying for some of the largest multinational companies in the United States.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she attended the University of Mississippi from 1993 to 1997, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Advertising.

Liz Williams lobbyist DC pledged the Kappa Delta sorority during her time at the university.

Her career has seen her work in multiple roles including finance, government relations, as a liason and eventually, ending up as a high level lobbyist.

Liz Williams began her career as a Finance official at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), from September 1997 to January 1999.

She then moved on to the Heritage Foundation, where for close to three years from 1999 to 2001 she worked as the Deputy House Liason for Government relations.

Liz Williams then joined Van Scoyoco Associates as the Director for Government Relations before moving to the National Rifle Association (NRC) as their Federal Liason.

After 5 and a half years at the NRA (from 2006 to 2011), Liz Williams then formed her own lobbying firm, Williams & Company which she has been running since August 2011.

The firm is a certified money maker, having earned close to a million dollars in just the past two years.

The firm made $550,000 from 6 clients in 2022, also according to Opensecrets, with companies such as Altria Group, Delta Airlines, General Atomics and Shield AI, hiring their lobbying services.

Liz Williams is a highly paid, massively influential Washington DC lobbyist, putting her in circles where she obviously interacted with Jeff Duncan, the South Carolina congressman whose wife alleges to be his paramour.

In explosive divorce docs filed by the wife of Rep. Jeff Duncan, Liz Williams is accused of carrying on an affair with the ‘family values’ official.

Melody Duncan filed for divorce in a Laurens county courthouse Friday, alleging her husband of 25 years has been carrying on an affair with Williams.

According to Melody, her husband allegedly “admitted to … an ongoing sexual relationship” with a lobbyist named Liz Williams.

Duncan “admitted this adulterous relationship to many people, including [the couple’s three sons] and members of his staff,” the filing claims.

The filing notes that Duncan’s actions have been in contrast to his public image of being a ‘family values’ conservative.

Melody noted in her filing one particularly egregious move on her husband’s part.

According to her, he flouted her as a “supportive and loving wife” at his 12th annual Faith and Freedom BBQ – which he hosts every year – but then left the very next day to be with Liz Williams, his beloved lobbyist paramour in DC.

Duncan “then left the next day and went directly to the home of his paramour, Liz Williams, in the Washington DC area, where [Melody] is informed and believes he continues to reside,” the findings allege.

He is also accused of having an affair with at least one other woman – this woman has not been named.

An Order requiring Defendant (Duncan) to pay a sum of permanent, periodic alimony to Plaintiff (Melody)

That defendant (Duncan) maintains health and hospitalization insurance coverage for Plaintiff (Melody) and the parties’ children under the age of twenty-six (26).
That Defendant (Duncan) should be required to obtain and maintain life insurance upon himself with Plaintiff (Melody) named as the irrevocable beneficiary.
That Defendant should be restrained from contacting, bothering, harassing, or in any way interfering with the Plaintiff in person, by phone, internet/email, text messages, mail or through third parties.

That Defendant should be required to provide the Plaintiff with attorney’s fees, private investigative fees, costs, and suit money necessary for the prosecution and maintenance of this action, pendente lite and upon completion of this action.

Departure from politics

Following the scandal, Rep Jeff Duncan announced in January 2024 that he will not seek reelection.

“At some point in a career, one needs to step aside and allow others to bring fresh ideas and abilities into the fight for Liberty, just as I have,” Duncan said in a Jan. 17 statement.

“Representing the 3rd District of South Carolina in this capacity has been a privilege and honor. Now, it is time for another man or woman to serve our District in the next Congress.”

Duncan has served seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives for South Carolina’s 3rd District, which covers a 10-county area in the western part of South Carolina.

Jeff Duncan is a South Carolina native and a 1988 graduate of Clemson University.

Prior to being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010, Congressman Duncan served as Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President during his seven years working in community banking.

Later, he became the President and CEO of J. Duncan Associates, a South Carolina-based, family-owned real estate marketing firm that specialized in statewide real estate auctions.

Duncan concurrently served as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2002-2010.

On his congressional page, Jeff Duncan writes on social issues: “As a life-long social conservative, I am a strong advocate for life and traditional family values.

His wife Melody points out this hypocrisy in her filings as she writes that her husband has concocted a narrative of a cold and loveless marriage to ‘justify the hypocrisy of his public statements and private actions.’
