Leandro De Niro Rodriguez was found dead on Sunday, July 2nd 2023 in his million-dollar Wall Street apartment, according to the Daily Mail.
Robert De Niro released a statement, revealing he’s deeply distressed by the news.
“I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo.” the 79-year-old actor said.
“We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo,” he added.
“It is with immeasurable shock and sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved son Leo,” Robert’s daughter Drena De Niro says in a statement. “We thank you for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we are given privacy at this time to process this inconsolable grief.”

Drena De Niro, Leandro’s mother, revealed news of his sad passing in a post shared on Instagram late Sunday, July 2nd 2023.
Drena wrote on Instagram: “My beautiful sweet angel . I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly .You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life . I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you . I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama .

She tagged the father of Leandro De Niro Rodriguez , Carlos ‘Mare’ Rodriquez in her post as he also paid tribute to his late son.
“Words aren’t enough to express the joy he gave us or the loss we now endure with our families and friends. He is God’s child now. On this full moon his spirit luminates what could not be seen in the dark.,” Leandro Dee Niro’s father Carlos Mare Rodgriguez wrote.
An aspiring actor and director, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez was following in his mother and grandfather’s career footsteps. He landed a small role in 2018’s A Star Is Born as the son of Bradley Cooper’s best friend, George ‘Noodles’ Stone, played by Dave Chappelle.
He also appeared in Cabaret Maxime in 2018.

According to TMZ, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez was found dead sitting in a chair, inside a New York City apartment Sunday afternoon, citing law enforcement sources.
The rarely wrong tabloid said: “We’re told there were no obvious signs that led to his death. He was found by a friend who hadn’t heard from him in a few days and was checking in on him.”
MailOnline went further, adding that a white powdery substance was found near Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s dead body.
The UK tabloid wrote: “Robert De Niro’s 18-year-old grandson Leandro was found dead on Sunday afternoon with a white powdery substance on a plate near his body, DailyMail.com can reveal.
“The teenager’s lifeless body was found sitting in a chair inside a $950,000, one-bedroom apartment in the Cipriani Club Residences on Wall Street.
“A police source tells DailyMail.com the substance was found near his body and there were no signs of trauma. He was found by a friend who hadn’t heard from him in a few days and was checking in on him,”

On Tuesday, August 7th, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s cause of death was officially ruled an accidental overdose.
New York City’s chief medical examiner told TMZ on Tuesday, August 8, that Leandro had fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine and cocaine in his system, ruling his death an accidental overdose.
Robert De Niro appears to have lost his grandson in similar fashion to what happened to other public figures such as Ray Lewis, who also lost his son Ray Lewis III to a drug overdose.
