On the night of Sunday, January 28th 2024, 19-year-old Isabella Mesa Sánchez was found dead in a suitcase in the home of her boyfriend located in the Doce de Octubre neighborhood , in Medellín, Antioquia.

Isabella Mesa Sánchez was a native of the municipality of Copacabana, in Antioquia, and was the mother of a three-year-old child.

She was living in Mexico, where she worked as a model, and had visited Medellín to see her friends and her current boyfriend.

Isabella Mesa had been on Instagram @isabellam__15, where she shared numerous glamorous photos of herself.

According to the authorities, her boyfriend, 21-year-old soldier Sebastián Villegas, is the main suspect in her murder.

According to local media, Sebastián Villegas was serving in the Pedro Nel Ospina battalion of the National Army , in the municipality of Bello, Antioquia.

He had asked his mother for permission to allow Isabella stay in his house, while he was on leave, between January 25 and February 2.

However, witnesses told Noticias RCN that Villegas started behaving strangely Sunday night after he asked residents for help in finding a cart.

“(He said) that he had a garbage that was too heavy, that he needed to take it out and we told him that we did not have any here,” one witness said.

“He then went to a neighbor’s (home) and he was not there. When he saw the police he took off, but nobody knew what had happened,”

Authorities found Mesa’s body wrapped with a cloth inside the suitcase after Villegas’ mother called authorities.

Friends of Isabella Mesa Sánchez said she had seen Sebastián Villegas as a suitable future partner and were appalled at how he had treated her.

The friend said that her death was terrifying, adding that “she was beaten” and received several stab wounds from Villegas.

“She didn’t deserve that because she was a very good person,” she said.

A Medellin prosecutor, Yiri Amado, said after the discovery of the body: “It was a woman who lived in Mexico and she was talking to this young man . She arrived in the city, and the young man asked her mother for permission to take her to her house and that was where this incident unfolded. The perpetrator belongs to the National Army,” .

Villegas turned himself into Metropolitan Police on Monday afternoon, a spokesperson with the Colombian Attorney General’s Office confirmed to DailyMail.com.

He faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

The death of Isabella Mesa Sánchez involving domestic violence against a partner, is actually similar to numerous recent incidents in the United States.
