Shortly after his arrest, Rex Heuermann wife Asa Ellerup filed for divorce.

The divorce documents were filed in Suffolk County Supreme Court by Asa Ellerup on Wednesday, July 19th and will be “uncontested”. Ellerup’s lawyer Bob Macedonio confirmed to both Fox News and CNN that a complaint for divorce and summons had been filed.

Following Heuermann’s arrest, the home of Asa Ellerup had become a fascination for media and the general public and she was spotted there on Friday, July 28th 2023 where she gave a sort of impromptu statement to reporters.

“If you want to take pictures, go ahead. I’m OK with it now,” she told reporters, according to the Daily Mail. “If you want to stand up here and wait for something. I have a lot of work to do.” “The sheer depression of what I saw was enough trauma,” Ellerup continued.

Previously, reports say Rex Heuermann wife flipped off at reporters.

After returning to the home for the first time since police arrested her husband, Ellerup screamed “Don’t talk to me,” at a reporter from the front yard of her home, where her son also sat. “Wanna take pictures? Go ahead … Don’t talk to me.”

When asked if she was staying in the home, she responded: “Please, leave me alone. That’s none of your business.”

She then flipped reporters the bird before the video cut out.

Meanwhile, a friend of the family reportedly started the Asa Ellerup Gofundme.

Asa Ellerup was overcome with emotion on being given the news by DailyMail.com outside her home in Massapequa Park, Long Island, on Friday afternoon.

Asked for her thoughts on the fundraiser, the 59 year-old said: ‘Yeah, yeah, that would be very helpful.’

It later emerged that the Asa Ellerup Gofundme was started by Melissa Moore, the daughter of the Happy Face serial Killer, to render financial assistance to Asa Ellerup’s family.

The “Happy Face” killer was apprehended in 1995. Keith Hunter Jesperson is serving life without parole in Oregon State Penitentiary. While he confessed to killing more than 150 women, eight victims were confirmed.

“My mother and my family were and are victims. We did not know about his double life,” Jesperson’s daughter Melissa Moore wrote on GoFundMe.

She said she waited to get permission from Asa Ellerup before going live with the donation.

Today, Asa has broken her silence on the front porch of the home that may or may not have been a crime scene, saying she “would find it helpful for a Go Fund Me” to help her.

Hi, I am Melissa Moore. People may know me as the daughter of the serial killer known as the ‘Happy Face’ killer captured in 1995. My mother and my family were and are victims. We did not know about his double life.

I have waited to create this Go Fund Me, as I didn’t want to offer support if she would not want it. I needed Asa’s consent.

Today, I have an opportunity to use my voice to help Asa, who isn’t in a place to speak about the terror and horror she and her family are experiencing at this moment.

While people may assume Asa has the funds to start a new life, the assumption is just that. We don’t know the financial and verbal abuse she may have suffered.

In solidarity, I kindly ask that you share this link on social media, make a comment of support, or share whatever amount you are comfortable with.

EDIT 8/11/23 The funds will go directly to Asa, not through her legal team, as she now has her solo bank account.

For clarification, the funds are to support Asa and she can direct on what is her highest priority: basic needs for herself and adult children, to restore the home to whole (as evidence collection damaged or destroyed many critical household items), and any other need she may have that is not listed.

Your comments of support will be shared with Asa.

*Update August 3, 2023, close to hitting $25,000 goal and upping the goal to 50,000.

As previously noted, Rex Heuermann was charged with the murders of Amber Costello, 27, Melissa Barthelemy, 24, and Megan Waterman, 22, and has since pleaded not guilty to the charges of first- and second-degree murder. He is also a suspect in the murder of 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes. All four women worked as online escorts and were reported missing between 2007 and 2010.

According to Ellerup’s attorney Macedonio, police arrived at the Heuermann family home in Massapequa Park an hour after his arrest and informed Ellerup and her children of the charges.

“They were home and the cops came in, and they were completely blindsided, and they told them what was going on,” Macedonio told the outlet. He added that the ordeal “is all still a whirlwind” for the family. “Her and her children’s lives have been completely turned upside-down,”

On Friday, July 28th, the attorney issued a statement on behalf of Asa Ellerup.

“On behalf of my family and especially my elderly neighbors, who have also had their lives turned upside down by the enormous police presence, in addition to the spectators, and news crews. They deserve to live peacefully; they should be able to walk their dogs and go to the grocery stores without cameras shoved in their faces,” the statement read. “I am pleading with you all to give us space so that we may regain some normalcy in our neighborhood.”

Currently, the Asa Ellerup Gofundme is yet to be established, but we imagine that would go up soon as the family’s life has been completely turned upside down.
