Toronto police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the deadly stabbing of a Nigerian international student in June.
On June 25, 28-year-old Ifeanyichukwu Oseke was stabbed in a Scarborough parking lot after an altercation with another man. He later died in the hospital.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued on July 1 for Tamar Cupid, on the charge of second-degree murder, police said.
Police arrested and charged Cupid, 25, hours into the warrant. He is scheduled to appear before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Sunday.
On June 25th, Toronto Police officers arrived at the parking lot in the Eglinton Ave.-Brimley Rd. area at 7:10 p.m. were they found two men who had been involved in an altercation.
“Information was received that two individuals had been fighting in the plaza. One of them had some serious injuries that required an emergency run to a local hospital,” said Toronto Police Service Duty Inspector Jeff Bangild at the scene Sunday night.
“Unfortunately, one person has succumbed to their injuries.
An injured man — Ifeanyichukwu Oseke, 28 — was rushed to hospital where he later died.
Tamar Cupid, 25, is charged with second-degree murder.
