The death of Kate Barry Birkin in 2013 after plunging from the window of her Paris flat practically shocked the world at the time.

Kate Barry Birkin, who died at 46, was a celebrated fashion photographer. However, she battled addiction and depression for a significant part of her life.

Kate Barry death was reported in December 2013 when falling from the window of her fourth-floor Paris flat.

Her body was found around 6.30pm on Wednesday on the pavement outside her home in the 16th arrondissement.

Barry was born on April 8, 1967, in London, England to Franco-British actress and singer Jane Birkin and the composer John Barry. 

The photographer had two half-sisters on her mother’s side, French actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg and actress and singer Lou Doillon. She also had a son, Roman de Kermadec, with her partner, Pascal Huon de Kermadec.

Kate Barry Birkin fell to her death on December 11, 2013, at the age of 46. She had been battling alcohol and drug addiction for a while and antidepressants were found in her room. Many believed she committed suicide.

Her sister Charlotte Gainsbourg later disputed the reports of suicide, saying “I want to believe it’s an accident” but admitting that it was impossible to know whether Barry’s death was accidental or a deliberate act.
