His bail had initially been higher but Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Jay Weiner lowered the teen’s $4 million bail to a million after prosecutors and Bordone’s attorney conferred during a hearing over new video evidence that allegedly suggested he was being chased down the street around the time of the stabbing.

“I just hope that justice is served,” Rodden’s father, Douglas Rodden, told the New York Daily News on Saturday.

“You know, we live in a free country, and people should really learn to love and respect one another.

“There’s no reason for people to stab people. … But no justice is going to bring back the life of a child of Rocco’s character.”

The late Rocco Rodden, 17, was a football player from Warren Township in Somerset County.

He played as a junior offensive lineman at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our own, Rocco Rodden,” St Joseph Regional High School shared on X (formerly Twitter) about their player’s passing.

“Rocco, a junior at SJR, left us in the early hours of Thanksgiving morning.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Rocco’s family and friends,”

In a letter to the school community, the institution said it will offer grief counseling and support services to all its students. 

“We hope that this gathering will provide an opportunity for our community to come together, lean on one another, and find comfort in shared memories of Rocco,” the letter said. 

The high school will also start the day on Monday with a schoolwide assembly and prayer service where students will hear from members of the administration, offering guidance and solidarity.

Former St. Joseph football coach Dan Marangi, who stepped down earlier this month, said he’s at a loss for words. 

“Just last week he and I were cracking jokes, talking about the off-season and next season,” he said. 

“Rocco came to us after his freshman year and was immediately welcomed not only by the football team, but by the larger school community. 

“That shows the type of young man that he was. He was loved and loved by everyone,”

Rodden is set to be laid to rest Thursday, November 30th.

“He was just a force to be reckoned (with). In the locker room before games, he was a motivating person. He had dreams, he had a path … Very mature, very independent person. He was a man at 15 years old,” Douglas Rodden said of his son.

A teammate of Rodden’s, Junior defensive lineman Vin Ferrara mourned him on Instagram.

“To my best friend, I cant believe your gone, you were more then a brother to me and was Family since day one. 

“Not one day will pass bye where I won’t think of all the memories we made. 

“One day in another life we can look back at all of our good times together. In school, On the field, Down the shore, In the gym, or just chillin at the house we always had the best times together. You always did it your way.

“Every time My Way would come on the speakers you would talk about how that is the song you want at your funeral, We just never thought it would be this soon. 

“I’m gonna miss getting asked if we were brothers every time we saw someone new. walking the hallways will never be the same, stepping on the field will never be the same,”

Former St. Joe’s quarterback Luke Henrich said Rodden could “light up a room” with his personality.

“To one of my closest friends, took you under my wing from the start. Nobody on earth that could light up a room and bring the energy you brought everywhere you went. You were one of a kind, and there will always only be one “Cug.”

“Going to really miss hearing you laugh and seeing you smile. See you on the other side kid. Love you forever Rocco❤️ #RIP #Cug,”

According to reports, Rocco Rodden spent the past two seasons on the St. Joe’s football team.
