However, hours went by and Shakeira did not return home, Elaine said.

Rucker’s daughter then called Elaine, her grandmother, who then called Hill.

He reportedly told them that he had already dropped Shakeira off and did not know where she was.

“Yes, she’s out there somewhere, yes,” Elaine told FOX 35 following her daughter’s disappearance, though she said she wasn’t sure if her daughter was alive or not.

“We need a location, a pin drop, something,” said Rucker’s youngest brother, Clarence Thornton. “Because right now we don’t know anything.”

“[Her] daughter got a text at 6 o’clock… 6:30 in the morning, saying, ‘I’m on my way’, and she never came. [It] could have been from him, could have been from her… we will never know,” Thornton said.

Thornton revealed investigators told him Rucker’s phone last pinged near a restaurant close to his home.

“The place she went to, I told her about that place, and she loves that place,” Thornton said.

The Winter Springs Police Department issued a statement following Rucker’s disappearance,

“On November 11, 2023, Shakeira Yvonne Rucker was last seen at approximately 1930 hours, leaving her residence in the City of Winter Springs,” the statement read.

“Her family believes that Shakeira left with her estranged husband, Cory Hill, to an unknown destination.

“The family has not seen or heard from Skakeira since that day and believes that she may be in danger.

Body Found

Sadly, the search for Shakeira Rucker did not end happily all might have hoped.

On Sunday, November 19th 2023, Orange County Sherif’s office revealed Shakeira Yvonne Rucker had been found dead in a storage locker belonging to her estranged husband Cory Hill located at at the Self Storage on Wiggins Road in Apopka.

She had been killed via multiple gunshot wounds.

“This is not the update we wanted to be giving you all today,” Sheriff John Mina said at a news conference Sunday.

Authorities had just finished searching for Rucker in an area near Bob White Airfield in Mount Dora on Saturday when they got a 911 call from someone at the Self Storage reporting “a smell emanating from one of the units,” Mina said.

Orange County sheriff’s deputies found Rucker dead in the unit from apparent gunshot wounds.

The unit belonged to her estranged husband Cory Hill who she was last seen with.

“We have plenty of time to continue collecting evidence and attesting to build our case — so to charge Cory Hill with Shakeira’s murder.

“So, I’m saying that he’s the suspect. We’re not looking for anyone else. He will be charged with the murder eventually in this case,” Mina said during Sunday’s press conference.

Hill was already in custody in the Orange County Jail, charged with four counts of attempted homicide after shooting at his ex girlfriend and her family.

“I’m feeling heartbroken to hear the news of my sister’s passing and the way she was found. It’s devastating,” said Rucker’s brother Clarence Thornton.

“We’re grieving this moment as it hasn’t even been 24 hours since we heard the news, but we’re here strong.”

He added: “I want justice to be served. He needs to go down for everything. Everything.

“My sister should have never been in that situation. Not in a million years would I have thought my sister would have ever been in that situation.

“So, if you’re going through anything like this, please find help,” Thornton said.

Cory Hill is the estranged husband of Shakeira Yvonne Rucker and the primary suspect in her death.

Hill was last seen with his estranged wife and her body was later discovered in a storage locker he owned.

He is expected to be charged with murder but Hill was already in custody over an attempted murder of another former partner.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, detectives responded to a report of a shooting on Sunday morning, Nov. 12, on Holly Creek Road.

A woman told detectives that Hill approached her and her family with a gun and started shooting.

No one was injured and Hill allegedly ran away before detectives arrived.

He was located in Mount Dora and arrested by police there, OCSO said.

He was booked into jail on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

He was trying to kill me,” Angel Milligan told FOX 35 on Monday night.

According to Milligan, she and Hill used to date, and they lived together. Milligan said she broke things off in September, after speaking with Rucker.

“She’s like, ‘Hey, do you know he’s married?’, I’m like, ‘no, all I know is so far he’s telling me he’s out of town at work’,” Milligan recalled.

Milligan said she filed an injunction against Hill, so she was surprised to see him at her house on Sunday, November 12.

Her surprise turned to terror when she said he pulled out a gun.

“He said, ‘Don’t run now’… that was the first words out of his mouth, ‘Don’t run now’… and at that point, I went to turn my back to run in the house and all you hear is gunshots,” Milligan said.

“I felt the wind of like two of them graze past my face as I’m running.”
