Who is Numi Simmons? Man Killed in New Brunswick Shooting

One man, Numi Simmons was killed and another was injured in a shooting in New Brunswick, New Jersey on Tuesday.

On March 12, 2024, at approximately 6:53 P.M., authorities responded to the area of Throop Avenue and Delavan Street following a report of a shooting.

Upon their arrival, officers located two male victims, both who sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Robert Wood Hospital for treatment.

Numi Simmons, 23, of New Brunswick, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The other male victim is currently in critical condition.

Initial investigation has revealed that this does not appear to be a random act of violence and there does not appear to be a threat to the public.

The Census Bureau’s Population Estimates Program calculated that the city’s population was 55,998 in 2022.

The New Brunswick, New Jersey shooting follows on the heels of a similar shooting in Steele Creek, North Carolina.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, shortly after 12:00 p.m., Steele Creek Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 11600 block of Red Hickory Lane.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. MEDIC responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

The victim in this case was then identified as 23-year-old Shemar Dealvin Hayes.
