Trimmer slipped, fell down and cut the carotid artery in his neck in a stunning incident that left all in attendance at the party traumatized.

Who was Liam Trimmer?

Liam Trimmer, a young police constable who moved from the UK to Western Australia, tragically lost his life during his engagement party.

Trimmer and his fiancée were gathered with family and friends at their Western Australian home to announce their engagement when he reportedly fell backward, cut his neck and died.

He reportedly slipped and cut the carotid artery in his neck, resulting in massive bleeding.

Despite the efforts of friends to save him, the bleeding could not be stemmed, and he passed away before emergency services arrived.

“I know everyone that was involved are really, really hurting. I think they wish they could just wake up from this nightmare,” Western Australia Police Force Commissioner Col Blanch told the media.

Whilst it’s unclear what caused his fall, an investigation is being launched into his death.

Trimmer’s fiancée, a nurse, is said to be incredibly shaken up by the traumatizing incident.

Liam Trimmer had moved to Australia from the UK in 2013 while still a teenager.

He graduated from Joondalup Police Academy and later settled in the city of Kalgoorlie, approximately 370 miles east of Perth.

He was a member of the police department’s tactical response group and gang crime squad.

He even appeared on the UK TV series “Wanted Down Under,” where he provided advice to a British teenager about life in Australia before their emigration.

“He was a very, very competent, capable young man with his whole life ahead of him — that’s how sad this is,” Blanch said of the deceased Trimmer.

“This extraordinary officer loved helping the community, was a fine example of WA policing,” he continued.

The Western Australia Police Union described him as a “valued member of the blue family” and mourned his loss.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of a valued member of the blue family 💙,” they wrote on Facebook.

“A dedicated Police Officer sadly passed away in an off-duty accident over the weekend.

“The WA Police Union sends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen officer during this difficult period,”

Blanch spoke of his shock upon hearing the news.

“I know when my phone rings early in the morning from a senior officer, generally it’s not good news, and tragically it wasn’t,” he told morning radio.

“I know everyone that was involved is really, really hurting at the moment, and I think they wish they could just wake up from this nightmare,” he said.

“It’s more important now for us to wrap around each other, to lean on each other. Can I thank the community and those involved — first responders and the broader parts of the community — for really offering their support to the family and fellow officers?

“I think when police officers in Western Australia, regardless of the circumstances, pass away, I know that everyone feels it across the community.”
