Kim Melissa Thrift was a 52-year-old realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices C Dan Joyner in Greenville, SC who was murdered over the weekend.

Christopher Minor, 50 years old of Mauldin, SC, carried out the murder of two women, Kim Thrift and Mariellen Bassent at the Arbors Brookfield Apartments in Mauldin.

Police say Kim Thrift and her friend Mariellen had gone to Christopher Minor’s apartment complex when there was an argument between Bessent and Minor over the two children the couple share.

Minor then pulled out a weapon and fired on both Mariellen and Kim, killing both.

The two kids were around at the time of the shooting, although its not clear if they witnessed the homicides.

Minor went on the run following the Saturday evening shooting but was then found on Sunday, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Kim Thrift was an American realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices C. Dan Joyner Realtors based in Greenville, SC.

Kim was killed at the age of 52 when she was shot dead by Christopher Minor, the husband of her best friend Mariellen Bessent Minor during a domestic incident.

According to her LinkedIn and official realtor bio, Kim Thrift was the daughter of a U.S. Air Force veteran who served for over two decades accross the world in countries such as Germany and England.

She had her education at Tabb High School and Denbigh High School between the years of 1985 and 1989.

She had her undergraduate degree at Southern Wesleyan University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management, between the years of 2005 and 2010.

A marketing and sales expert, Kim Thrift initially worked in Aerospace before she transitioned to real estate in Greenville SC.

Greenville SC Shooting – Kim Thrift and Mariellen Bessent killed by Christopher Minor

Maudlin Police were called to Arbors at Brookfield Apartments on Saturday around 6 p.m. regarding a shots fired call.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found the bodies of two women. One woman was found inside a vehicle while the other was found lying beside the vehicle.

Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified both women as Kim Melissa Thrift, of Greenville, and Mariellen Bessent Minor, 41, of Greenville.

According to officials, the suspect and Mariellen were husband and wife and Thrift was a family friend.

Authorities identified 50-year-old Christopher Minor as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

At the time, police said Minor was last seen driving a white Cadillac with SC plate 297 AFW and described him as a “white male, 5’11” and 195 pounds with Brown eyes and gray hair,”

Minor was facing charges of two counts of murder and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the commission of a violent act.

However, by early Sunday morning, authorities had found Christopher Minor, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound by Lake Thurmond.

Mauldin PD received a notification from McCormick County Sheriff’s Office just before 10:15 a.m. on Sunday stating that Christopher’s vehicle was found unoccupied by park rangers at Bakers Creek State Park.

After looking around the area, Christopher was found by a lake with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Journalist Cody Alcorn reported that a woman found his vehicle inside a creek and notified authorities.

According to police, Mariellen Bessent Minor and Kim Thrift were at Christopher Minor’s apartment complex to pick up children that the couple shared when a fight ensued, leading to the shooting.

Chief of Police for Mauldin PD, George Miller, stated in an interview that Christopher and Mariellen were the parents of two children.

Mariellen Bessent Minor, Christopher Minor’s ex-wife, was a realtor located in Greenville SC.

According to LinkedIn, she graduated Clemson University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and International Trade.

She worked with Berkshire Hathaway Homes Services.

Marrielen Bessent Minor had two kids with her estranged husband, Christopher Minor of Mauldin, SC, a Greenville Metro area suburb.

Mauldin is a city in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States.

The population was 24,724 at the 2020 census, making it the 19th-most populous city in South Carolina.

It is located in the Greenville-Anderson-Greer, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Benjamin Griffith was awarded the first land grant in what is now called Mauldin in 1784.

The name of Mauldin was given to the town almost accidentally in 1820 thanks to South Carolina’s lieutenant governor, W. L. Mauldin.

The train station was called “Mauldin” because the lieutenant governor had assisted in getting the Greenville and Laurens Railroad to come through the village. Over time, the entire area took the name of Mauldin.
