Who is Dennis Whaley? Suspect Wanted for Double Homicide in Lansing

Dennis Whaley, 51, is wanted by the Lansing Police Department as the primary suspect in a double homicide that rocked the city.

Two people were shot and killed in Lansing late Thursday night.

Lansing Police were called to the 500 block of Woodrow Avenue in Lansing around 9:30 p.m. Thursday and when officers arrived at the scene, they located a 50-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, both shot.

LPD said they died at the scene.

LPD said they believed the incident to be a domestic situation and that while no arrests had been made, they were familiar with the accused.

And on Saturday, Lansing PD announced Dennis (Josh) Whaley as their primary suspect.

“The Lansing Police Department is asking for assistance in locating 51-year-old Dennis (Josh) Whaley, who is wanted for questioning in connection to a double homicide that occurred in the 500 block of Woodrow Ave on 4/18/2024 at approximately 9:30 p.m.” LPD said in a notice shared to Facebook.

“He is 6’2 and weighs 195 pounds. If you have information regarding the location of this subject, please contact Detective Sergeant Troy Johnston at (517) 483-6867,” the post concluded.

Jelsey Wallace on Facebook, who identified themselves the sons of one of the victims, commented on the LPD post.

“This man HEARTLESSLY murdered two very beautiful people and one of those was my dad. I have been waiting for his face and name to be revealed and I am BEGGING whoever reads this to share and ask for shares.

“They deserve Justice, although that won’t bring them back- he deserves to be locked away before someone else crosses his path. Please, share,” he wrote.
