Demarcus Coley Largo
A tragic incident unfolded on Christmas Eve in Largo, Florida, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Abrielle Baldwin, a mother of two.
The fatal altercation took place at their grandmother’s residence, where tensions escalated after a disagreement over Christmas presents.
Authorities suspect that the initial gunshot came from Abrielle’s 14-year-old brother, Demarcus Coley, who was subsequently shot by their 15-year-old sibling, Darcus Coley.
Darcus reportedly fled the scene and contacted their mother.
Following the incident, both Damarcus and Abrielle were transported to the hospital.
Damarcus underwent surgery, but unfortunately, Abrielle succumbed to her injuries.
Both brothers now face murder charges, and there is consideration of trying them as adults.
The tragic sequence of events began during a shopping trip with their mother, Joyce, and Abrielle’s two children.
Upon returning to their grandmother’s house, arguments ensued, with the 15-year-old Darcus Coley expressing discontent over perceived unequal treatment in gift distribution.
The situation escalated when Demarcus Coley brandished a .40 caliber handgun and threatened his brother. Fortunately, their uncle intervened and removed Damarcus from the house.
Outside, Damarcus encountered his sister, who confronted him while carrying her 11-month-old son.
The confrontation escalated with Damarcus using derogatory language and making threats.
Tragically, he proceeded to shoot Abrielle in the chest. Darcus, upon witnessing the incident, reportedly shot Damarcus with his own .45 caliber pistol and fled the scene.
The aftermath involved Darcus discarding his weapon, seeking help, and contacting their mother.
He is undergoing mental health evaluation.
Damarcus faces charges including first-degree murder, child abuse, and firearm possession.
Darcus faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
Sheriff Bob Gualtieri expressed concern over juvenile access to firearms, citing the brothers’ history of carrying guns.
“Both Damarcus and Darcus carried guns all the time. They routinely carried firearms on them,” he said.
“People knew it. That’s what they did,”
He added: “This is what happens when you’ve got young delinquents and they carry guns.
“They get upset, they don’t know how to handle stuff, so they just pick up their guns and start shooting each other,”
Both siblings were known to law enforcement, with Damarcus having a history of arrests dating back to the age of 12.
Gualtieri emphasized the urgent need to address the issue of young individuals possessing firearms, stating that such incidents highlight the dangerous consequences when juveniles with firearms cannot manage conflicts appropriately.
He called for a strong response, advocating for the incarceration of these individuals to send a clear message about the severity of the issue.
“The problem is, you’ve got way too many kids out there with way too many guns,” he continued.
“These kids need to get locked up,” Gualtieri said. “Send a message,”
Demarcus Coley sister Abrielle Baldwin deceased
A beautiful, 23-year-old mother from Florida Abrielle Baldwin is dead following an altercation with her brothers, shot by 14-year-old Demarcus Coley.
On December 26 2023, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference to discuss the arrest of two juveniles in connection to the murder of 23-year-old Abrielle Baldwin during a domestic altercation.
On December 24, 2023, deputies assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau responded to a shooting at 2357 22nd Avenue Southwest in Unincorporated Largo. Deputies located Abrielle and 14-year-old Damarcus Coley, both suffering from single gunshot wounds.
Abrielle was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Damarcus was transported to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition.
Through their investigation, detectives learned Damarcus, 15-year-old Darcus Coley, and Abrielle, who are all siblings, went Christmas shopping with their mother and Abrielle’s 11-month-old and six-year-old sons.
They then went to their grandmother’s home where Damarcus, Darcus, and Abrielle were involved in a verbal altercation over Christmas gifts.
After Abrielle told Damarcus to stop arguing because it was Christmas, Damarcus told Abrielle he was going to shoot her and the 11-month-old she was holding in a baby carrier. Damarcus shot Abrielle in the chest while Abrielle was holding the child in the carrier.
Shortly thereafter, Darcus exited the residence with another firearm and shot Damarcus because Damarcus shot Abrielle. Darcus then fled the scene, tossing his firearm into a nearby yard. Detectives have been unable to locate the firearm used by Darcus.
After Darcus contacted his mother, he was located and taken to a mental health facility due to self-harm statements and will be transferred to the custody of the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center once he is released.
Sheriff Gualtieri advised juvenile delinquents are obtaining guns by either purchasing them on the street for cheap because they are stolen or through car burglaries.
Sheriff Gualtieri stated, “In the last thirty days, we’ve taken reports where seventeen guns have been stolen from unlocked cars.”
When referring to juveniles stealing firearms from unlocked vehicles, Sheriff Gualtieri stated, “Help us because we have a problem.” Lock your doors.
Damarcus was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder, Child Abuse, and Delinquent in Possession of a Firearm.
Darcus was arrested and charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

After leaving the store, the family continued their argument at Baldwin’s grandmother’s residence.
Inside the home, the 14-year-old Demarcus Coley brandished a handgun, threatening to shoot his older brother in the head.
Attempts were made by family members to separate the quarreling teens.
Subsequently, the younger brother engaged in a heated exchange with Abrielle, threatening to shoot her and her 10-month-old son.
Regrettably, he allegedly followed through on his threat, shooting Abrielle in the chest with a .40 caliber handgun.
Fortunately, the baby, who was in a carrier, remained unharmed.
