Damarcus underwent surgery, but unfortunately, Abrielle succumbed to her injuries.

Both brothers now face murder charges, and there is consideration of trying them as adults.

The tragic sequence of events began during a shopping trip with their mother, Joyce, and Abrielle’s two children.

Upon returning to their grandmother’s house, arguments ensued, with the 15-year-old Darcus Coley expressing discontent over perceived unequal treatment in gift distribution.

The situation escalated when Demarcus Coley brandished a .40 caliber handgun and threatened his brother. Fortunately, their uncle intervened and removed Damarcus from the house.

Outside, Damarcus encountered his sister, who confronted him while carrying her 11-month-old son.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri expressed concern over juvenile access to firearms, citing the brothers’ history of carrying guns.

“Both Damarcus and Darcus carried guns all the time. They routinely carried firearms on them,” he said.

“People knew it. That’s what they did,”

He added: “This is what happens when you’ve got young delinquents and they carry guns.

“They get upset, they don’t know how to handle stuff, so they just pick up their guns and start shooting each other,”

Both siblings were known to law enforcement, with Damarcus having a history of arrests dating back to the age of 12.

Gualtieri emphasized the urgent need to address the issue of young individuals possessing firearms, stating that such incidents highlight the dangerous consequences when juveniles with firearms cannot manage conflicts appropriately.

He called for a strong response, advocating for the incarceration of these individuals to send a clear message about the severity of the issue.

“The problem is, you’ve got way too many kids out there with way too many guns,” he continued.

“These kids need to get locked up,” Gualtieri said. “Send a message,”
