Who is Andrew Fierle? Florida Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Relationship with Minor

Andrew Fierle, a 43-year-old former teacher at the Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida has been arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Fierle of Sunrise, Florida, was arrested Thursday and booked into the Broward County jail after turning himself in.

He is charged with three counts of facing three counts of soliciting or engaging in a romantic relationship as an authority figure.

The incident in question reportedly occurred over three years ago when Fierle taught mathematics at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, located at 2801 SW 12th St. in Fort Lauderdale.

However, he was fired from that job in 2021 after allegations emerged that he had an inappropriate relationship with a female student.

The student’s parents alleged that he engaged in inappropriate conduct with their daughter and reported Fierle to the Archdiocese of Miami.

He was fired and the Archdiocese reported the accusation to State Department of Education, the Department of Children and Family Services and encouraged the girl’s parents to report it to law enforcement.

Three years later, he has now been charged with the crime.

Following his arrest, the Archdiocese of Miami released the following statement: “Mr. Andrew Fierle was terminated as a teacher from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School on June 24, 2021, due to a complaint from a female student’s parents regarding violations of the school’s and Archdiocese of Miami’s Safe Environment policies,”

On Friday, a Broward County judge reduced his bond to $75,000 but ordered that he be outfitted with a GPS monitor.

He’s also prohibited from having contact with the victim, minors, and from visiting school campuses where minors are present as his case makes its way through the judicial system.

The violations

Andrew Fierle was arrested after his victim spoke to enforcement and made revelations about thier time together.

According to an arrest affidavit, the victim, who was 17 years old at the time, told detectives she met Fierle in her junior year of high school and stated,

“I had a huge crush on him, he’s a good-looking guy.” Police said the victim first spoke to Fierle on March 5, 2020.

According to the criminal complaint, even though she was not Fierle’s student, he “spent an excessive amount of time with (her), including before and after school, at (Fierle)’s weekend job and non-work hours.”

The victim described their relationship to detectives as a “casual friendship” stating she and Fierle would talk about life, music and movies, indicating they had a lot in common.

“We connected, we bonded, and it was romantic,” according to the report.

At one point, Fierle allowed the student to stay at his home “roughly until midnight” without contacting her parents and with her phone off, the complaint states.

In an incident that occurred on campus sometime between March and May of 2021, the victim recalled wearing a jacket to school and being inside Fierle’s classroom when he unzipped her jacket and touched her breasts in a “lewd and lascivious manner,” according to the report.

“The victim stated she would not wear a uniform shirt to school and simply wear her jacket with a bra underneath stating it was ‘too hot for that’” the report stated.

Police said Fierle would then unzip her jacket and “play with them,” placing his hand directly on her breasts on top of her bra in a “fondling” manner.

The victim also claimed Fierle would kiss her while in his classroom.

The victim disclosed that she visited Fierle at his Sunrise home approximately 15 times, according to investigators.

The victim stated that Fierle performed oral s*x on her at his home on Feb 26, 2021, according to the report.

She also told investigators that each time she went to Fierle’s home they engaged in s*xual conduct that included him rubbing his genitals on hers.

The victim recalled another occasion where she and Fierle went to his vehicle and drove to a Wendy’s parking lot in Davie, where he began to kiss her and he then placed her hand on his “crotch” area, police said.

The report stated that no further incidents occurred after Fierle placed her hand on his crotch area, but the victim told detectives that “7 out of 10 times,” he would become visibly erect to the point where he would tell her to “walk out of the classroom” alone because he needed to compose himself quickly before someone saw him.

Police said the victim enjoyed Fierle’s company, however, when it came to s*xual relations, “she was not into it.” she also stated that she was frightened by Fierle.

Fierle also “exchanged text messages with (the student) that were suggestive of people in a couple’s relationship,” the report states.

The St. Thomas Aquinas High School is a private, Roman Catholic, college-preparatory high school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States.

The school was founded in 1936 as part of St. Anthony School and moved to its current location in southwest Fort Lauderdale in 1952.

It is sponsored by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The school currently enrolls 2,420 students on its 25-acre (100,000 m2) campus.
