Who was Amir Williams? 11-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shot Dead by Brother in St Petersburg

Amir Williams, 11, was a St Petersburg, Florida boy who was accidentally shot and killed by his 14-year-old brother.

The 14-year-old had found the gun in a nearby alley and was playing with it when it accidentally went off, killing Amir.

Police say the weapon had been reported stolen in recent days.

“I’ll just be blunt,” St. Pete Police Assistant Chief Michael Kovacsev said.

“This is a community tragedy. We have an 11-year-old child who sustained a gunshot wound and is deceased inside the residence at home with two siblings. Access to firearms is something that we have been going over and over again in this police department for the last couple of years, and it continues to be a problem.”

St Petersburg PD released the following statement:

“At 12:15 p.m., police responded to a house in the 1400 block of 43rd St. S., for a gunshot wound to an 11-year-old boy. Amir Williams, age 11, died at the scene.

There was no school today and Amir was home with his 14-year-old brother and 13-year-old sister.

The 14-year-old brother admitted he was playing with the gun and accidentally shot his 11-year-old brother.

The gun was reported stolen on April 24th in St. Petersburg.

This is an ongoing investigation and no one has been charged at this time,”
