Hamish Harding was a British UAE-based British businessman, aviator, explorer, and space tourist who died aboard the submersible Titan. He was 58 years old.

Harding and four other passengers aboard the Oceangate Titan sub are presumed dead after their missing sub was found scattered on the ocean floor.

Hamish Harding is the founder of Action Group and chairman of Action Aviation, an international aircraft brokerage company with headquarters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Little is known about Harding’s early life. He burst onto the scene due to his daring aviation exploits.

Hamish Harding has degrees in Natural Sciences and Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University. He also holds an Airline Transport Pilots License and business jet type ratings, including the Gulfstream G650, and is a skydiver.

Hamish Harding’s date of birth is not known but he is known to be 58 years of age. Hamish Harding wife is Linda Harding.

He runs the firm Action Aviation based in Dubai, which sells commercial and private aircraft.

The British billionaire Hamish Harding jumped the news trends in 2023 when he went missing on a trip aboard a tourist submarine.

The missing sub which people are referring to as the Oceangate Titanic was a submersible vessel operated by underwater tour company Oceangate.

It went missing on a trip to the depths of the sea to give the tourists aboard the Oceangate submarine a clear look at the world-famous Titanic wreck.

Hamish Harding was confirmed as one of those aboard the vessel.

Harding had posted on social media about his trip and his stepson confirmed his disappearance.

“Thoughts and prayers for my stepfather Hamish Harding as his submarine has gone missing exploring Titanic. Search and rescue mission is underway,” Brian Szasz wrote on Facebook.

The Oceangate Titanic is believed to have about 72 hours of oxygen left.

Rear Admiral John W. Mauger of the U.S. Coast Guard said: “We don’t have equipment onsite that can do a survey of the bottom… there is a lot of debris [at this wreckage] so locating will be difficult. We don’t have the capabilities at this time. Right now, we’re focused on trying to locate it,”

Currently, search and rescue is on for the vessel.

Until then we have a lot of preparations and briefings to do.

“The team on the sub has a couple of legendary explorers, some of which have done over 30 dives to the RMS Titanic since the 1980s including PH Nargeolet.

“More expedition updates to follow IF the weather holds!” Hamish Harding concluded.

Oceangate Titanic Submarine Missing

The Oceangate Titanic Submarine refers to the tourist submarine Titan, operated by the tour company Oceagate which went missing beneath the Atlantic in June 2023.

Believed aboard the missing Oceangate Titanic is none other than British billionaire, Hamish Harding.

The missing vessel being referred to as the Oceangate Titanic is an underwater vehicle that carries passengers to the site of the Titanic’s crash where participants get the chance to gaze upon the ship’s remains.

Participants on the excursion are able to document the rate of decay and catch glimpses of history, PEOPLE reports!

According to the Daily Mail, the Oceangate Titanic launched around 4am Sunday and has been missing since the morning of Sunday, June 18th.

“A frantic marine search is underway for a missing tourist submersible which has not been seen since it launched to take five people to the Titanic wreckage yesterday morning.

“The Boston Coastguard and Canadian Coastguard are both now looking for the missing vessel that is operated by tour company OceanGate Expeditions,” the publication writes.

The Titanic sank in 1912 and lies some 3,800m (12,500ft) beneath the waves of the North Atlantic around 370 miles from Newfoundland, Canada. OceanGate Expeditions is thought to be the only company that offers tours of the famous vessel.

As of 1pm Monday, the Oceangate Titanic vessel had just 72 hours of oxygen left, according to the US Coast Guard Admiral leading the coordinated effort to find it.

As previously stated, onboard the vessel is British billionaire Hamish Harding. Hamish Harding posted excitedly on Facebook about being able to commence the dive after a bout of bad weather in Newfoundland.

The British billionaire clearly stated the weather was bad but a window had opened up for their trip.

Hamish Harding wrote about his Oceangate Titanic trip: “I am proud to finally announce that I joined @oceangateexped for their RMS TITANIC Mission as a mission specialist on the sub going down to the Titanic.

The Oceangate Titanic submersible is currently missing.

“Our entire focus is on the crewmembers in the submersible and their families,” OceanGate Expeditions said in a statement.

“We are deeply thankful for the extensive assistance we have received from several government agencies and deep sea companies in our efforts to re-establish contact with the submersible,”

On 5 March 2021, Hamish Harding & Victor Vescovo dove to the deepest point of the Mariana Trench, the Challenger Deep, in a two-man submarine to the lowest point in the world’s oceans to a depth of 36,000 ft. Here they set the World Record for greatest length covered at full ocean depth, and greatest time spent at full ocean depth.

This 13-hour underwater mission resulted in two Guinness World Records, the longest duration spent at Full Ocean Depth (4 hours 15 mins) and the longest distance traversed at Full Ocean Depth (4.6 km).

Oceangate Expeditions Titanic Submarine missing

The Oceangate Expeditions Titanic missing submarine usually carries a pilot, three paying guests, and what the company calls a “content expert” – according to the BBC.

The eight-day trip sets sail from St John’s in Newfoundland, which is around 370 miles (600km) from the wreckage site. Each full dive to the wreck, including the descent and ascent, reportedly takes around eight hours.

The OceanGate Expeditions website lists three submersibles it owns, and only the Titan is capable of diving deep enough to reach the Titanic wreckage.

The vessel weighs 10,432 kg (23,000 lbs) and, according to the website, can reach depths of up to 4,000m and has 96 hours of life support available for a crew of five.
