Adam Rich was an American actor who was mainly popular due to a stint on the 1970s tv show Eight is Enough. Adam Rich stood at the height of 5ft 5 inches.

Rich played the role of Nicholas Bradford, the youngest child of Tom Bradford (Dick Van Patten) and his wife (Diana Hyland) in the most notable role of his career.

Adam Rich was born on October 12, 1968 to Francine and Rob Rich. His family was Jewish. He died in his home on January 7th 2023 of a fentanyl overdose. He was 54.

The Rich family briefly lived in Florida where the young Adam learned how to act at the local gym. Growing up as a child actor, Rich lived in Granada Hills, Los Angeles, with his parents and younger brother Wayne Rich.

Eight is Enough followed the daily adventures of the expansive Bradford Brood. Dick Van Patten, Connie Needham, Grant Goodeve, Willie Aames, Lani O’Grady and Laurie Walters also starred alongside Adam Rich.

“I think [Adam was one of the reasons that the show] was a big success,” Van Patten, who died in 2015 at the age of 86, recalled of working with his former TV son in a throwback Archive of American Television interview. “People loved him. They named their child ‘Nicholas’ and everything because of him.”

After finding fame on Eight is Enough, Adam Rich went on to appear in other productions including in ABC’s Code Red in 1981 and 1983’s Dungeons & Dragons, in which he voiced teenage wizard Presto the Magician.

In the ’80s, he also appeared in the TV movies spin-offs Eight Is Enough: A Family Reunion and An Eight Is Enough Wedding. Rich joked during production for the spin-offs, when he was 18 years old, that he’d gotten “a lot less cute” since the original series.

Adam Rich cause of death was revealed to be Fentanyl via a medical report released six months after his death.

The L.A. County Medical Examiner’s autopsy report, obtained by TMZ, showed Adam died in an accidental overdose of the powerful opioid fentanyl. He also had non-toxic levels of alcohol and lorazepam… the generic for Ativan.

Rich was found dead back in January inside his L.A. area home. At the time, foul play was not suspected, with the M.E.’s report revealing his body was in a “state of mild decomposition.”

Law enforcement told TMZ at the time that his death was likely the result of an overdose … adding the manager at Adam’s apartment building found his lifeless body inside the bathroom and there was also a white powder substance, believed to be drugs.

The former child star struggled with drugs for years and was once arrested for allegedly trying to steal pills from a pharmacy, as mentioned earlier.

The actor’s former co-stars paid tribute to him following his death.

Willie Aames, who played Rich’s brother on the family show, wrote an emotional Facebook post about their friendship.

“This morning [my wife] Winnie woke me with the heartbreaking news of Adam Rich’s passing,” he wrote. “I’m gutted. Adam was more than a colleague. He was very much my only little brother. A lifelong friend.”

In another part of the statement, Aames also revealed Rich was considering a return to acting before his death. “These last few years Adam had dreams of renewing his career. He was one of those kid actors that our generation will always remember.”
