A brother of American rapper Blac Youngsta, identified as Tomanuel Benson, has reportedly been killed – shot to death near a gas station in South Memphis.
News emerged Friday, August 18th 2023 about a man shot dead near a gas station, with initial reporting from Fox 13.
As the hours went by, the connection was made that the deceased was the killed brother of Blac Youngsta.
DJ Vlad reported the death on his Vlad TV website, whilst Daily Loud and other hiphop outlets also confirmed the death of Tomanuel Benson.
Tributes poured in for Tomanuel on Facebook too – but we’ll get to that later.
So what happened to Blac Youngsta brother who was killed? As mentioned earlier, Fox 13 reported about a man being shot and killed in South Memphis Friday morning.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) revealed that around 9:30 am near a BP gas station on South Parkway East, deadly gunfire rang out, just down the street from South Side Park.
MPD officers quickly rushed to the scene but unfortunately, arrived to find the victim already dead at the scene.
“When FOX13 crews arrived, police tape blocked off a portion of South Parkway East and squad cars surrounded the gas station,” the outlet said.
The Memphis PD asked anyone with information about the deadly shooting to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-2274.
It promised that if anyone gives out information which leads to an arrest in the case, they could receive a reward worth up to $2,000.
A few hours after Fox 13 report, Vlad TV sent out this report confirming that the man in the Fox 13 reports was the killed brother of Black Youngsta.
“After a man was shot and killed in South Memphis on Friday (August 18) morning, news started spreading across social media that the victim is the brother of rapper Blac Youngsta,” Vlad TV wrote.
Daily Loud also reported on Twitter: “BREAKING: Blac Youngsta’s brother was allegedly shot and killed in Memphis today at a gas station,”
A stunning reported revealed what happened to Tomanuel Benson, giving details previously not revealed.
Blac Youngsta’s brother, Tomanuel Benson was killed around a Valero B.P. gas station close to South Side Park.
According to eyewitnesses, several loud gunshots were heard coming from a passing vehicle, indicating the murder was a drive-by.
Sadly, one of the many bullets fired by the assailants found its target, striking a young man. Witnesses later revealed that this young man was the brother of Blac Youngsta, Tomanuel Benson.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and Tomanuel was taken to the nearby Regional One Hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical team, tragically, his life could not be saved as he was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
Following news that Blac Youngsta has once again lost another brother, tributes also poured in for the profoundly unlucky rapper.

Stephanie Taylor also wrote on Facebook – “Dang Blac Youngsta sending one up for ya … rest up Tomanuel Benson,”
Kassie Bell wrote: “Yall I was gon say check on ya people. Parkway n Lauderdale. But now, prayers to Blac Youngsta family. Dey say its his brother. So sad. I had to get out and pray for them ladies. Lord give dem strength,”
Another Facebook user, Michelee Hollywood also wrote: “Folks killed Blac Youngsta’s brother right in broad daylight,”

Sadly, this is hardly the first time a brother of Blac Youngsta has been killed. A June 2019 report from Hiphop Vibe noted that Heavy Camp TD, another brother of Blac Youngsta, also died in very violent circumstances.
“According to multiple reports, Heavy Camp TD, the brother of rapper, Blac Youngsta, has been killed. We will keep you updated with more details as they become available. We’re sending prayers to Blac Youngsta and his family.” Hip Hop vibe reported at the time.
Heavy Camp TD was shot and killed in Miami and a few years prior, in 2016, Blac Youngsta also lost another brother.
