Who is Patricia Murphy? Boulder Woman Stabs Officer at Lucky’s Market

Patricia Murphy, 51, is a Boulder, Colorado woman who has been arrested after stabbing an officer in the upper left shoulder at Lucky’s Market.

Murphy is facing two counts of first-degree assault on a peace officer, second-degree trespass, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest – creating risk of bodily injury to an officer and two counts of felony menacing.

Murphy is currently in custody without bond.

Boulder County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to Lucky’s Market, 3960 Broadway, on a report of a woman who was trespassing and has been asked to leave multiple times by employees.

Police said when they arrived on the scene, Murphy was being verbally aggressive and refusing to leave.

She then grabbed a knife and stabbed an officer in the upper left shoulder.

Murphy then attempted to stab another officer but the knife hit the officer’s radio, not causing any injuries.

She was grabbed by the shoulders from behind by the officer who was stabbed and then she reportedly attempted to stab the injured officer again.

According to the affidavit, Murphy then walked back to her cart and sat down next to it with the knife in her right hand. Police then negotiated with her for approximately 45 minutes.

Eventually, Murphy then put the knife in her back pocket but continued to refuse to company with additional commands. Police then used 40 millimeter foam baton rounds against Murphy and she was shot multiple times in the legs and hand, leading to her arrest at 7:58 p.m.

The injured officer was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to court records, Murphy has at least four prior cases in Boulder County dating back to 2007, including a 2017 assault case in which she took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to second-degree assault – resulting in injury with a deadly weapon.
