Back, in October, stunning news emerged about the sad death of Emily Bortee.

In a chilling discovery that sent shockwaves through the southern California community, the lifeless body of 18-year-old Emily Bortee was found near the on-ramp to the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, situated on the border of Industry and Pico Rivera.

On November 17th 2023, police announced they had arrested and charged Marvell Beroit, 26 with Bortee’s murder.

Who is Emily Bortee?

Emily Bortee was an eighteen-year-old African American who was murdered and her body dumped near the San Gabriel River (605) freeway.

According to our investigations, Bortee was born on November 30th 2004 to her parents. She is a resident of San Bernadino.

Emily was a beautiful young lady with a bustling life and a bright future ahead of her until it was tragically cut short by a murderer.

The world was shocked when California Highway Patrol discovered at about 8:50 a.m. on Monday October 16th 2023 a body near the Rose Hills Road on-ramp.

CHP responded to a body spotted on the Rose Hills Road onramp to the northbound 605 freeway in the Industry-Pico Rivera area, KTLA reports.

Arriving officers found the body of Emily Bortee amid some ivy plants in the onramp.

She was formally pronounced dead at 9:02 the same Monday.

After her identification and autopsy, the coroner’s office released her body to her family.

The cause of her death was not disclosed by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The funeral of Emily Bortee was handled by Elite Funerals & Cremation Center of California.

After a private viewing of her body, Ms Emily Jean Bortee was given her final send-off on Friday, November 10th 2023 at 11am at the Branch Church on 2318 E. 103rd Street, Los Angeles.

She was only 18!

Marvell Beroit Charged with murder

26-year-old Marvell Beroit of Hawthorne was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on October 23rd for the murder of Emily Bortee.

Bortee’s body was found Oct. 16 in a brush area alongside the Rose Hills Road on-ramp to the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials said an “extensive investigation” led the agency to arrest Beroit, but no other details were provided.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office still lists her cause of death as deferred.

Marvell Beroit was charged on Thursday, November 16th 2023 with murder.

He is being held on $2,025,000 bail.

CHP officials did not release the events leading up to Bortee’s death as the investigation remains ongoing.

It’s unclear what relationship the suspect had with the victim.
