Did Walker High School Principal Jason St Pierre Resign?

Walker High School principal Jason St Pierre has apologized for his heavy-handed actions against Kaylee Timonet for twerking.

Kaylee Timonet did nothing but dance at a party and her angry principal, Jason St. Pierre removed her from the Student Government Association (SGA).

He claimed the video of Kaylee dancing or twerking at an off-campus dance, which occurred after homecoming of this year and was posted on social media, was against the school’s values.

His actions have sparked outrage and thrust him into the spotlight.

In this article, we break down the wiki of Walker High School principal Jason St Pierre, the man at the centre of Kaylee Timonet twerking case.

St Pierre has been a Principal in the Livingstone Public Parish school system for the same time period, according to his LinkedIn page.

Hailing from Lucther, Louisiana, he attended Tara High School.

Jason St Pierre is an alumnus of the Southeastern Louisiana University where he received his undergraduate degree.

He is married to his wife, Lisa St Pierre.

According to a message on the official Walker High School website, Jason St Pierre as Principal aims to “provide our students with a safe learning environment, challenging our students to reach their potential, and helping students master skills needed to be successful.

“Our goal is to ensure a broad range of experiences while building a strong relationship between school, home, and community,”

His tenure as Principal of Walker High School has been largely successful.

In 2022, Walker High School Principal Jason St. Pierre was named the Varsity Brands School Spirit Principal of the Year, a national award that recognizes those school principals who elevate student experiences at their campuses.

Varsity Brands announced the national winners during a ceremony webcast on June 15.

For his victory in the principal category, St. Pierre received a $3,000 scholarship for his school.

“This principal understands the essential link between school spirit and student achievement and supports academics and athletics alike,” Varsity Brands said on its website.

“This principal is personable, active in school activities, encouraging to students and faculty, and innovative in his approach to education and engagement.”

Jason St Pierre rose to nationwide notoriety after stripping senior Kaylee Timonet of a school position and college scholarships due to her dancing in a video shared online by a DJ at a party she attended.

Due to this he stripped her of her position as a student leader and withdrew his support for college scholarships.

“He told her she wasn’t living in the Lord’s way and questioned who her friends were and if they followed the Lord. She said she didn’t know how to answer that and they said it’s a yes or no question. Meanwhile, she’s sobbing.” Rachel Timonet, Kaylee Timonet’s mother said of the incident.

After his actions went viral, the Livingston Parish announced they would look into his conduct.

Amidst backlash for his actions, Walker High School principal Jason St Pierre requested a leave, although that created the impression among some that he had resigned.

According to Superintendent Joe Murphy, St. Pierre requested a leave of absence be granted by the school board.

“The district office is awaiting his paperwork to process his request,” Murphy said.

Prior to that, Jason St Pierre apologised for his actions via a statement shared on the Livingston Parish School Board Facebook page.

“I have apologized to the Timonets and I am hopeful that my scheduled meeting with Kaylee’s mom will rectify this situation and allow Kaylee to enjoy the remainder of her senior year at Walker High School,” the statement said, in part.

“I will be reinstating Kaylee’s position on the Student Government Association. The SGA was created to give students a voice in their school and their community, to promote leadership qualities, and to represent their school with pride, enthusiasm, and respect. Our student government members are held to a high standard of student behavior.

“While I stand by that premise, I do believe that standard deserves the input of not just myself and top administrators, but also those student leaders. I hope to create a path moving forward where we can work together to create clear expectations for all.

“I will be reinstating my scholarship endorsement for Kaylee. At Walker High, we strive to place our students first in every decision so they may be prepared for whatever career path they may aspire to take, and I believe my action will assist in doing that.

“Finally, during my conversation with Kaylee regarding the dance party, the subject of religious beliefs was broached by Kaylee and myself. While that conversation was meant with the best intentions, I do understand it is not my responsibility to determine what students’ or others’ religious beliefs may be – that should be the responsibility of the individual,”

Kaylee Timonet

Walker High school principal Jason St Pierre got into trouble in the first place after his actions against Kayle Timonet based on a video taken by a DJ at a homecoming party.

The hired DJ took a 15-second video of Kaylee Timonet dancing with friends and later posted it on social media. Rachel Timonet said she and Kaylee saw the video before it was posted and didn’t think anything of it.

“She’s been a dancer since she was 2 years old. She does hip-hop, she dances for Disney, she dances in New York City, and she’s even danced at school [in performances] like that,” Rachel Timonet continued.

The Walker High School principal had recommended Kaylee for two scholarships, but there was still paperwork to fill out, the mom says. So when Kaylee was called into the office on Tuesday, Oct. 3, she assumed that was why.

Instead, St. Pierre and Kelly Becnel, a teacher, told her they were removing her from student government and would no longer recommend her for scholarships, according to Rachel Timonet.

“They said they didn’t want her representing Walker High School. She was totally shocked,” Timonet said.

Rachel Timonet said St. Pierre printed out Bible verses and highlighted sections. Most devastating to Kaylee, he told her she was no longer eligible for student of the year.

“Her entire life she’s worked toward that,” Rachel Timonet said. “She said she really felt she didn’t think anything was wrong in the video, but at this point she said she really felt like a complete failure.”

When Kaylee came home Rachel was furious. She called St. Pierre.

“It’s just not right. It’s out of line. She was not on Walker High School property, not in any Walker High School gear, on her own free time, at a private event,” she said.

“The fact this went on after school hours should not have been addressed by you at all,” she wrote in a later email to the princiapl.

“You do have the right to remove anyone from your clubs, but to talk to them and have them crying for two hours is not ok.”

The move ignited outrage and disbelief in the Livingston school district.

Parents took to social media to decry St. Pierre’s actions, comparing them to the movie “Footloose.”

Some made T-shirts that said “Let the girl dance,” and encouraged other students to post “twerking” videos in support.
