Not only did she change the account to her name, but she also deleted all videos of the actor from the popular video platform.

How did Mr Ibu meet his daughter Jasmine?

According to Jasmine, she has always known Mr Ibu because he was friends with her father.

Jasmine Okafor has finally spoken about her relationship with the ailing actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu.

It was widely reported that Jasmine and Mr Ibu’s son, Daniel Onyeabuchi, were arrested in Lagos for allegedly defrauding the actor of N55 million.

Addressing the allegations in a viral video on the internet, Jasmine narrated how she met the actor, who now acted as a father figure to her.

“I said I wasn’t going to talk about this issue until Mr Ibu gets back on his feet and to God be the glory he has been discharged and recuperating.

” A lot has happened and I will like to shed more light on how I got involved and how things got to this point.

“My dad died so many years ago, he was a Nigerian army and a good friend to Mr Ibu, who is now a father figure in my life. After my dad’s death, Mr Ibu has been playing a father figure role in my life. In 2018, I left the country to look for greener pastures, and from there I relocated to Cyprus where I was studying law,” she told Daily Post in an interview.

“In 2020, Mr Ibu started requesting financial assistance from me on chat and I was surprised because he was doing well and almost at the peak of his career before I left.

“He now opened up to me that he was sick and was in Abuja, while his wife was in Lagos I requested to call her and she told me that Mr Ibu had left the house for over two years.

“I didn’t want to speak but things have gotten to a point that I have to speak up my truth”.

Several controversies have followed Mr Ibu daughter Jasmine throughout her time in the limelight.

Allegations of sleeping with Mr Ibu

Mr Ibu’s 2nd wife, Stella Maris, accused him of having an affair with his adopted daughter, Jasmine.

In a video circulating on social media, Ms Stella lamented how she’s been catering for their children all by herself despite the domestic abuse from the actor.

She claimed that Jasmine is taking advantage of her husband’s memory loss issue and using him for fame despite having a child of her own.

Her recording in their residence shows her crying, accusing the comedic actor of beating her and trying to kill her.

She also accused him of neglecting their kids, saying that they have not been eating and the compound and her car are in disrepair.

Allegations of embezzling funds

On September 6, 2023, a petition was filed by Mrs. Stella-Maris Okafor (Mr Ibu’s wife) through Diamond Waves Law.

The petition alleged that Jasmine and Onyeabuchi Okafor (Mr Ibu’s son) conspired to defraud Mr Ibu while he was on his sickbed.

To cover Mr Ibu’s medical expenses, he launched a public fundraising initiative that attracted donations from well-wishers.

Initially, Mr Ibu’s wife managed the funds for medical bills and family support.

Jasmine and Onyeabuchi manipulated Mrs. Stella-Maris.

They took possession of Mr Ibu’s phone and hacked into his banking details.

They re-installed mobile banking apps on Onyeabuchi’s phone, gaining control over the actor’s banking activities.

N50 million was illegally transferred from the public fundraising account to Onyeabuchi’s personal bank account.

Forensic analysis revealed the fraudulent transfers.

Text messages via WhatsApp between Jasmine and Onyeabuchi detailed their conspiracy.

The suspects even had a sham marriage at the Ikoyi Marriage registry.

Their plan was to escape to the UK with the proceeds of their crime.

The Nigeria Police Force arrested both Jasmine and Onyeabuchi for their alleged involvement in stealing N50 million from the donations meant for Mr Ibu’s medical care.

Jasmine got married to her American lover in 2022, but their marriage lasted only nine months before they publicly parted ways.

Jasmine met MD (her US-based lover) on TikTok. Their connection blossomed swiftly, progressing from acquaintances to marriage within a mere three months.

Unfortunately, their marriage took an unexpected turn.

During this time, Jasmine discovered several shocking revelations, including the fact that MD had not informed her about his previous divorce.

On their wedding day, Jasmine learned that MD had misrepresented his age. He had claimed to be 38 years old, but in reality, he was 51.

Going through MD’s phone, Jasmine found evidence that he had made marriage promises to five Nigerian girls on TikTok.

John Okafor

John Ikechukwu Okafor (17 October 1961 – 2 March 2024), popularly known as Mr. Ibu, was a Nigerian actor and comedian.

He appeared in over 200 Nollywood films including those from the Mr. Ibu series.

John Ikechukwu Okafor was born on 17 October 1961. He was from Umunekwu in Nigeria’s former Eastern Region (now in Nkanu West L.G.A., Enugu State).

After elementary school and the death of his father in 1974, Okafor moved to Sapele to stay with his brother. In Sapele, he did menial jobs so he could send himself to school and support his family.

He then worked as a hairstylist, ventured into photography and also worked in a company that produced crates. After secondary school, he was admitted into the College of Education, Yola, but pulled out due to financial difficulties.

He later enrolled in the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

Okafor acted in more than 200 Nollywood films including Mr. Ibu (2004), Mr. Ibu 2 (2005), Mr. Ibu and His Son, Coffin Producers, Husband Suppliers, International Players, Mr. Ibu in London (2005), Police Recruit (2003), 9 Wives (2005), Ibu in Prison (2006) and Keziah (2007).

Okafor also ventured into music for a short period of time. On 15 October 2020, he released his songs titled “This girl” and “Do you know”
