Jamie Christopher was born on November 22, 1971, in Barnet, London to Malcolm J. and Penny Christopher.

His family was steeped in filmmaking, in a sense cementing the young Jamie’s future before he even grew up.

His father, Malcolm J. Christopher, was a production manager who worked on Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon and other movies whilst his mother, Penny Christopher, was a production coordinator who worked on Event Horizon.

Even his sister,, Emma Christopher, also went into filmmaking, becoming a first assistant director who worked on The Da Vinci Code and other films.

Unsurprisingly, from a very young age Jamie developed an interest in movies and filmmaking and inevitably decided to pursue a career as an assistant director after graduating from high school. 

Christopher enrolled in the University of the Pacific in California, where he studied law for a year before dropping out to follow his passion. 

He returned to England and started working as a runner on various film sets.

Career

Jamie Christopher earned his first credit as a third assistant director when he was only 21 years old, on the movie Alien3, a 1992 sci-fi horror film directed by David Fincher. 

He then worked as a second or third assistant director on several films in the 1990s, such as GoldenEye, The Fifth Element, The Mummy, and Sleepy Hollow.

In 2001, Jamie Christopher would land one of his most seminal roles after joining the production of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone as the first assistant director of the second unit.

Jamie was a beloved member of our Marvel Studios family, and he will be dearly missed.”
