Hailey Stephens died around 5pm Sunday evening at a Valley Hospital, a statement from the Casa Grand PD revealed.

The other teen who was shot, also 17-years-old, is recovering from her injuries.

Hailey Stephens is an American teen whose life has been tragically cut short after being shot at a house party in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Stephens is 17-years old and a student of Casa Grande Union High school.

According to posts from her friends and family following her demise, Hailey Stephens parents are Vanessa and Chris Stephens.

She also appears to have a brother, according to photos from her mom’s Facebook page.

Hailey was a dedicated cheerleader and a member of the Union High cheerleading team, the Cougars.

She was also a gymnast, according to a post from her aunt Jessica Arias Diaz.

“Our Niece passed away this Evening. Hailey Stephens was a super star!! I was always trying to make her a CrossFitter with her gymnastics back ground and cheer skills!!” Jessica wrote.

“My heart goes out to my sister’s family!! Please continue to pray for the broken hearted! I got to hold her beautiful hand one last time!!”

Hailey Stephens beautiful life was tragically cut short on Sunday, November 26th 2023 after being shot at a house party in Casa Grande.

Casa Grande police officers responded to a call regarding a shooting near State Route 387 and Cottonwood Lane after 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Apparently, a shooting had broken out at a home near Pinal Avenue and O’Neil Drive around 1:30 a.m. 

When officers arrived, they found two teens injured. 

17-year-old Hailey Stephens was shot in the head and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. 

Another girl, also 17, was shot in the arm and taken to a Phoenix-area hospital.

Authorities say a house party was being held in a vacant home when an “altercation” broke out between several people at the party. 

At some point during the argument, gunshots rang out and struck the teens.

The two girls shot by the stray gunfire weren’t involved in the argument and were bystanders, according to authorities.

Following the initial reporting of the shooting, the Casa Grande Police Department provided a disheartening update at around 5pm Sunday.

“One of the 17-year-old female victims of today’s shooting has succumbed to her injury. 

“She is identified as Hailey Stephens of Casa Grande.

“Hailey passed away at a valley hospital at approximately 5:00 p.m. this evening. 

“The other 17-year-old female victim continues to recover from her injury,” the update read.

Authorities continued to ask for help to find the perpetrators.

“The Casa Grande Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is asking for assistance in identifying the suspect(s) involved in today’s shooting. 

“Detectives believe many people were present at the party where the shooting occurred. 

“If you know anyone who attended this party or have children who attended this party, we ask you to call the Casa Grande Police Department and speak to a Detective as soon as possible. 

“Any relevant information is useful and appreciated,”

Following news of her sad demise, tributes poured in droves for Hailey Stephens Casa Grande.

“Love you forever hailey.  so thankful i was able to know you in this life.🤍” Taylor Stephens wrote.

The Cougar Spiritline, her cheerleading team, wrote: “🖤 Literally just at a loss for words… We are all unbelievably heartbroken, and full of emotions. 

“We will Forever Miss, Forever Love, and Forever Keep Our Sweet Baby Hay in our Hearts. 🖤”

Responding to their post, Hailey’s mom, Vanessa, thanked the team for making her daughter happy whilst alive.

“Her heart and soul was this team! Thank you to her coaches! Thank you to her beautiful cheer sisters! You all made her happy!” she said.

Two teenage girls were shot during a Casa Grande house party over the weekend, ending tragically with one of them losing their lives.

Hailey Stephens, 17, and a 17-year old fellow high school students where shot when an altercation broke out at the party held at a home near Pinal Avenue and O’Neil Drive.

The party was being being held in a vacant home when an “altercation” broke out between several people at the party, according to police. 

At some point during the argument, gunshots rang out and struck the teens. 

Both girls shot by the stray gunfire – including Hailey Stephens who later died – weren’t involved in the argument and were bystanders.

Some neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots go off in the middle of the night, and there are bullet holes in several places throughout the vacant home, including a couple into the garage door. Beer cans, needles, and liquor bottles are scattered about the front yard.

“All of a sudden, I hear five to seven gunshots go off,” neighbor Rachael Ivaniuc told AZfamily

“Just sad for the girls that were hurt just out having fun,” said neighbor Jeannie Marshall.

“Life can change in ten seconds. You can be at a party, and next thing you know, your friend is hurt,” said Ivaniuc.

“It breaks my heart. I wish that this wasn’t the world we live in, but it is.”

“I really feel bad for the families, and, you know, I was a teenager at one time, too. We like to party, we like to have fun, we like to get out with all of our friends, but it’s too bad that it turned tragic like this,” said Marshall.

Neighbors said this is usually a quiet and safe place, and they don’t believe anyone connected to the party or shooting lives around here. 

“Where they came from to go into a vacant house and knew how to get in, that’s what I don’t understand,” said Marshall. 

“I don’t want that to mar our town and our neighborhood.”

No suspects have been identified and the shooting is still under investigation by the CGPD Criminal Investigations Division. 

Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and neighbors.

A statement from the Casa Grande Police Department outlined the timeline of events.

“On November 26, 2023, at 1:30 a.m., Casa Grande Police responded to a call of a shooting in the 400 block of East Silver Reef Road. Responding officers discovered two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. 

“One of the victims, a 17-year-old female, was transported to a valley hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. She is expected to survive her injury. 

“The second victim, a 17-year-old female, was transported to a valley hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. She is currently in critical condition. 

“There were no other reported victims. No suspect(s) has been identified at this time.

“The CGPD Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating this incident. Detectives have been interviewing all available witnesses and neighbors. 

“Based on evidence and information identified on scene, Detectives have determined a house party was being held in a vacant home on Silver Reef Road. 

“An altercation took place between an unknown number of party attendees. At some point during this altercation, shots were fired between the parties involved. It appears the two victims were not involved in the altercation and were innocent victims of stray gunfire,”

CGPD later posted an update: “One of the 17-year-old female victims of today’s shooting has succumbed to her injury. 

“She is identified as Hailey Stephens of Casa Grande. Hailey passed away at a valley hospital at approximately 5:00 p.m. this evening. 

“The other 17-year-old female victim continues to recover from her injury,”

A statement from the Casa Grande Union High School District confirmed Hailey Stephens and the other shot teen were students.

It also said police will be on campus Monday as investigations continue.

“Casa Grande Police Department released a press release this morning regarding a shooting involving two Casa Grande Union High School students. Both were transported to valley hospitals. 

“No suspects have been identified at this time. Casa Grande Union High School

According to Wikipedia, the Casa Grande Union High School is a high school in Casa Grande, Arizona. 

It is part of the Casa Grande Union High School District.

The original high school and gym, now used as the Casa Grande City Hall, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The original Casa Grande Union High School was built in 1920–21 at a cost of $135,000. It featured an indoor swimming pool and an auditorium.
