Yaya, who calls herself the Xhosa Barbie, is a Xhosa by tribe from the province of Eastern Cape, South Africa. She grew up in East London in Eastern Cape.

She had the pleasure of working with a number of well-known brands and national magazines. including Drum Magazine, Essentials Magazine, Essays of Africa, True Love magazine and Bona Magazine. Bubbly Yaya twice featured on the cover of Rouge Magazine in both 2019 and 2020.

She also appeared on a few TV commercials and has done work for brands such as Edgar’s, Rich Factory and Thabootys to name a few.
