South Africans React As Thabo Bester Rearrested In Tanzania

South Africans on social media have dropped massive reactions after shocking news on Saturday about Thabo Bester being rearrested in Tanzania.

Bester and his celebrity wife and accomplice, Dr Nandipha Magudumana, were rearrested in Arusha, Tanzania on Friday, April 7th 2023, for attempting to illegally enter the country.

South African Police Minister Bheki Cele and Justice Minister Ronald Lamola confirmed the arrest on Saturday.

Bester and Magudumana were rearrested alongside a Mozambican accomplice – all three face extradition to South Africa.

“I can confirm that three people were arrested in the city of Arusha. They are facing charges of unlawfully being in the country and will face more charges once we send our request for their extradition,” said a senior security cluster source.

At the time of their arrest, the SAPS had received information that the couple maybe be hiding in Tanzania or Zimbabwe.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) made a request for assistance in tracking them down to INTERPOL.

The news has sparked intense reactions amongst a stunned South African social media populace.

“Can we have a video or something?” one netizen requested.

“Come back with pictures or video. We don’t trust the media and government anymore. We only trust our own eyes.,” another netizen wrote.

Tell us when he’s been extradited otherwise this is another Bushiri and Gupta story in the making!!” another netizen blew hot!

Thabo Bester, dubbed the Facebook rapist, escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Centre in Bloemfontein in May 2022 after it was initially believed he had committed suicide by setting himself alight in his cell.

However, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), which originally declared him dead, confirmed that the charred body found in his cell was not that of the convicted murderer and rapist.
