Nigerians Cancel Wizkid After Refusing To Vote And Hiding In Ghana On Election Day

Nigerian afrobeats superstar, Wizkid, has been heavily bashed by social media after being spotted in Ghana on election day in Nigeria.

The Essence hitmaker was spotted in Ghana on Saturday, February 25th 2023 – the day all Nigerians across the country were supposed to line up and vote for a new President.

Wizkid had no time to perform that civic duty as he stormed Ghana to attend a social function.

Popular Ghanaian producer, Killbeatz, lost his mother and she was buried in Tema on Saturday.

Wizkid abandoned the elections to attend the funeral where he was spotted in the company of R2Bees, King Promise and others.

A video of the moment surfaced online and sparked wild debate among netizens.

Reactions

A war erupted ons social media over Wizkid boycotting the election as some Nigerians bashed him for his act whilst his famous WIzkid FC fans came to his defence.

“This werey no vote and dem dey talk about better naija,well I no kuku like am 🖕🏻,” a fan wrote on Instagram.

“Very unpatriotic,” another fan said.

“I canceled Wizkid a long time ago. Coward.” one netizen wrote on Twitter.

“I was a die hard fan of him but not anymore,” another added.

A Wizkid FC stan called out Nigerians for hypocrisy after Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scored for Napoli on Saturday.

“See person wey dey shout when Osimhen score yesterday dey drag Wizkid & Burna Shey Osimhen na Egyptian?,” he said.

Another added: “Keep Wizkid’ name out of your d!rty mouth!,”

If una dey wait for this Wizkid to come carry una fingers go thumbprint for ballot paper then una go wait tire, crybabies,” another fan wrote.

Nigerians headed to the polls on Saturday, February 25th 2023 to elect their next leader.

APC’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi are the frontrunners.

The recsultsof the election are yet to be declared.
