You’re Not A Real African – Israel Adesanya Explodes On South African Dricus Du Plessis

Nigerian-New Zealand UFC Champion Israel Adesanya exploded on his next opponent, South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis, calling him a fake African.

Adesanya’s outburst came after Dricus defeated Robert Whitaker in a No.1 contenders match for the Nigerian’s middleweight title.

Shortly after his win, Adesanya stormed the ring and squared up with Dricus to stir some drama ahead of their title fight.

When Joe Rogan introduced Izzy as “the great Israel Adesanya,” Du Plessis took exception to the comment saying, “I don’t know about great.”

That seemingly innocuous comment pissed off Izzy who immediately went on the offensive.

“This is my African brother right here. Let’s go n—-.”

Dricus replied with, “You’re African, but you ain’t my brother.”

Adesanya quickly shot back,

“Do a 36 & Me test and it will say I’m Nigerian. Do a 26 & Me test and it’ll show you where you’re from. I’ll show you where you’re from.”

Adesanya’s comments has already caused a stir on social media as people call him out for being ‘cringe’ and trying to start a ‘race war’.

Either way, the upcoming fight between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis now has one hell of a lead-up to look forward to!

In the UFC 290 main event,  Dricus Du Plessis beat Whittaker on the feet and the ground before getting the former champ out of the fight with a second-round TKO.

Dricus Du Plessis now fights Israel Adesanaya for the UFC middleweight title in the Nigerian’s next defence.

An interesting moment during the Israel Adesanya Dricus Du Plessis confrontation occurred when the South African mocked Adesanya’s claim to be African by saying he was born in New Zealand.

Many are thus wondering where was Israel Adesanya born? Despite being known as a New Zealand fighter, or a Nigerian-New Zealand fighter, Adesanya was actually born in Lagos, Nigeria.

Adesanya was born in Lagos, Nigeria, the eldest of five children. His father, Oluwafemi is an accountant and his mother, Taiwo, is a nurse.

Adesanya attended Chrisland School, Opebi, and enrolled in its Taekwondo after-school club until he was removed by his mother due to an injury.

In 1999, the family relocated to Ghana for 10 months but due to his parents wanting their children to receive a well-recognised higher education, he settled in Rotorua, New Zealand, at age 10 and attended Rotorua Boys’ High School.
