Who is Zackary Lee Plowman? Triple Shooting Suspect Holds Pastor and Wife Hostage at Knifepoint

Zackary Lee Plowman is a 39-year-old Lexington, NC man wanted for a triple shooting and holding a pastor and wife at knifepoint.

Zackary Lee Plowman is from Rural Hall, North Carolina, and is wanted for a series of violent crimes that took place in Lexington, NC, over the weekend.

He is accused of shooting three people, breaking into a church, holding a pastor and his wife at knifepoint, and stealing their car.

According to the Lexington Police Department, at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, officers came to the 800 block of Virginia Drive after getting a report of a shooting.

Investigators say that three adults were shot and were taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries.

The police department has obtained warrants for Plowman’s arrest for three counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony flee to elude.

The police department located the suspect vehicle in the triple shooting early Sunday morning and attempted to pull over the driver, but the driver drove away to elude the officers.

Police later found the car abandoned north of Lexington a short time later.

Evidence inside the car was processed and Plowman was identified as a person of interest in the triple shooting as well.

Community Fellowship Moravian Church

While investigating the shooting, the police learned of a church break-in and carjacking that occurred around the same time.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, at around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, deputies responded to a call of a breaking and entering at the New Community Fellowship Moravian Church in Lexington.

Upon arrival, they found a pastor and his wife who had been held at knifepoint by an armed suspect who had broken into the church.

The suspect allegedly held the pair at knifepoint and hijacked their car before letting them out near Sink Road off of City Lake Road and then later abandoning the car at JD Essick Road.

Bloodhounds were dispatched as well as a helicopter in the search, but the search was called off after every resource was exhausted without gaining any further leads.

Investigators also sent reverse 911 calls to neighbors in the area to see if they saw anything.

The suspect in the church carjacking was identified as Zackary Lee Plowman, 39, of Rural Hall.

He is described as being 5-feet-8-inches tall with a shaved head and brown eyes.

The police department has obtained warrants for Plowman’s arrest for the church break-in as well, including charges of first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, and assault by pointing a gun.

As of February 5, 2024, Plowman remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
