Who were Austin Wethington and David Wiegand? Boyle County Crash Victims

Two people were killed after a crash in Boyle County, KY, on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on May 29th when a 2004 Black Chevrolet Blazer traveling north on US-127, crossed the center line into the path of a 2004 Red Mazda.

Austin Wethington, 23, died on the scene, while David Wiegand, 49, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced deceased after being rushed to the hospital.

The Kentucky State Police released the following statement…

The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted just before 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in reference to a two-vehicle collision on US-127 (Hustonville Road) near Bonta Lane in Boyle County.

The initial investigation indicates a 2004 Black Chevrolet Blazer, being operated by David Wiegand, 49, of Mackville, KY, was traveling north on US-127 and crossed the center line into the path of a 2004 Red Mazda, being operated by Austin Wethington, 23, of Hustonville, KY, traveling south.

As a result of the collision, Austin Wethington, 23, of Hustonville, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased on scene by the Boyle County Coroner, Eric Guerrant.

David Wiegand, 49, of Mackville, operator of the other vehicle, was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Boyle County Coroner, Eric Guerrant.

Trooper Clayton Cooper is conducting the ongoing collision investigation.

He was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police personnel, Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, Danville Police Department, Danville EMS, Boyle County Fire Department, and the Boyle County Coroner’s Office.
