Who was Lenea Brown? 17-Year-Old Shot and Killed in Casper

Lenea Brown was identified Wednesday as the victim of a shooting in Casper, WY, on Tuesday.

Brown was shot and killed at a residence in the 6800 block of Buckboard Road on Casper’s southwest side.

The suspect, an unidentified juvenile, has been arrested.

Casper Police Department was called to the area of Whispering Springs Rd and Gila Bend in Casper, WY in regard to an isolated shooting incident early on the morning of Tuesday, May 14th, 2024.

The incident resulted in the death of one juvenile female, identified as Lenea Brown.

Brown was a Natrona County School District student as confirmed by NCSD spokesperson union Tanya Southerland.

“We are devastated to learn of a tragedy involving a Natrona County High School student off campus last night,” she said.

“The Natrona County School District extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family, friends, and school community following the tragic passing of a student.”

Police investigations quickly identified a suspect who was arrested.

CPD spokesperson Amber Freestone said the suspect hasn’t been identified because he or she is a minor.

“This is an ongoing investigation and per state statute, CPD will not be releasing any information about the minors involved,” she said.

CPD has handed the case over to the Natrona County Attorney’s Office. An autopsy for Brown at the Natrona County Coroner’s officer is scheduled for Wednesday.
