Who was Ethan Blecke? Dublin Jerome High School Student Dead in Powell Crash

A car crash in Powell Monday night took the life of 16-year-old Ethan Blecke.

Blecke was a student of the Dublin Jerome High School and was one of the passengers in a Porsche that crashed into a Powell Apartment Complex in the 3400 block of Club Way Court at Powell Grand Communities.

The crash, which occurred around 9: 15 p.m., saw a Tesla being driven at a high rate of speed hit a bump, lose control and struck several other vehicles.

The car, which was being driven by another 16-year-old, also hit part of a garage attached to one of the apartment buildings.

Blecke was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

One other person was seriously injured but is now stable while three others escaped with minor injuries.

Mike Aurin, the principal of Dublin Jerome, confirmed Blecke was a student at the school.

Aurin said there is a crisis intervention team with trained professionals for students and staff during this difficult time. There will also be counselors available on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to Ethan’s family, friends, and all others in our community who knew and loved Ethan,” Aurin wrote in a statement to the Dublin Jerome community.

Charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and reckless operation were filed against the teenage driver.
