Who was Chandler Barnes? Nashville Man Shot and Killed by Stepbrother In Attempted Murder-Suicide

A 38-year-old man identified as Carson Denny shot and killed himself in Nashville on Tuesday in an attempted murder-suicide after firing on his stepbrother.

Denny shot his step-brother, 27-year-old Chandler Barnes multiple times at his residence in the 2100 block of Burns Street in Inglewood.

Barnes luckily survived and was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries.

According to reports, Denny stormed Barnes’ residence in the early hours of Tuesday in a rented pickup truck.

He entered the house, shot Barnes, and returned to the truck.

Barnes’ fiancé then got him out of the residence to send him to the hospital but Denny fired more shots at them.

He then returned to his pickup and shot himself. He died at the scene.

Barnes is currently in stable condition at Skyline Medical Center. The brothers had not seen each other in three years according to information gathered by police who are still searching for a motive for the shooting.

Homicide Unit and domestic violence detectives are working together on the investigation.
