Amy Guillory was a New Iberia woman who was killed by her husband in a murder-suicide that stunned the local community.

Two people were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Iberia Parish during the evening of Wednesday, May 29th.

Amy was found with multiple gunshot wounds and her husband, Herbert Guillory, was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded Wednesday evening to a shooting in the 6000 block of Coteau Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 49-year-old female with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 50-year-old husband was later found dead in a nearby field off Coteau Road with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Amy’s stepfather, Rickey Trahan, said he had recently seen the couple and had no inkling of anything wrong with them.

“I can tell you she was very friendly, man. Couldn’t get a bad word out of her. That’s why it’s so heartbreaking. You know, to me, I can’t say nothing about it. They had some issue. We don’t know. You know, he knows like I see. I talked to them the day before. He did what he did. And I didn’t see no reason why, you know what I mean?” he said.
