The woman who was killed after being run over by a cop car near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Thursday has been identified.
The Horry County Coroner’s office identified the deceased as 66-year-old Sandra “Sandy” Schultz-Peters, who lived in Myrtle Beach.
Sandy was on the beach near Nash Street around 1 p.m. Thursday when a 2020 Ford Ranger, a police vehicle, hit her.
She was taken to Grand Strand Regional Hospital and died a short time later.
“What occurred on the beach yesterday was a tragedy and we know our community is hurting,” the Horry County Police Department said in a statement.
“Our hearts are with all those impacted by this loss.”
The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
