Who is Jeremy Stanton? Man Charged for Pittsfield Murder of Ryan Babcock

Jeremy Stanton, 38, of Worthington has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting that killed one person in Pittsfield.

A man was found dead Tuesday from gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a vehicle around 4:30 p.m. on Fenn Street.

The deceased was identified as Ryan Babcock, also of Pittsfield.

Stanton was arrested at his home on Wednesday evening for unrelated outstanding warrants for violation of probation and assault with a dangerous weapon, as well as vandalizing property.

He pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.

Berkshire Country District Attorney Shugrue stated, “I commend law enforcement for identifying and apprehending a suspect in just over 24 hours. They worked diligently around the clock to keep the public safe. Bringing guns and violence into our neighborhoods is unacceptable and those who do will be brought to justice by my office.”

Pittsfield Police along with the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office are still investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe was set up for the victim of this crime, Ryan Babcock.

Meghan Babcock, Ryan’s sister who organized the fundraiser, wrote: “…my brother Ryan was killed, yesterday in pittsfield..our entire family is heartbroken right now and in shock, as none of us could imagine losing a brother, a son, a father, an uncle, a friend, along with many more family members,”
