Who is Ashley Monroe? Pregnant Mom of 4 Arrested and Charged for DUI Crash that Killed 2, Injured 14

Ashley Marie Monroe of Perrinton, MI, was arrested and charged with 11 felonies after a stunning Watertown Township Crash.

Monroe hit 16 family members in the crash, killing two and injuring 14 more.

The crash killed Johnathan Esch, 30, of Grand Haven, and Daniel Harris, 42, of Grand Ledge, while 14 other victims were sent to hospitals.

Ashley Marie Monroe, 35, of Perrinton, was charged Monday with 11 felonies in connection with the crash and was being held on a $1 million cash bond.

As of Monday afternoon, officials had not identified those injured in the crash or said where they are from, but did release the ages of those transported to hospitals as: 2, 2, 3, 6, 6, 7, 8, 16, 27, 28, 32, 33, 38, and 61.

They were all suffering varying degrees of injuries with one in critical condition.

Monroe, according to reports, is a mother of 4 pregnant with her 5th child.

She was reportedly driving erratically before and after the crash and originally fled the scene, but was found a short distance away with an empty bottle of alcohol in her purse.

Once booked, she failed a sobriety test.

“Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident,” sheriff’s office Lieutenant Dan Spitzley said in a statement.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.
