Law enforcement sources told the Pioneer Press that three Burnsville officers were shot — two fatally — and a medic was also killed Sunday morning in the Burnsville Mn shooting.
Law enforcement from multiple agencies are staged near the area of Terrace Oaks East Park, which is near Burnsville Parkway and west of Interstate 35E.
A city spokesperson confirmed an incident happened this morning in the 12000 block of 33rd Avenue S., but was not yet willing to share details.
The law enforcement source said that police were called to a residence on a domestic incident when shots were fired.

A city spokesperson anticipates a news conference will be held in the coming hours to provide more details.
The victims were identified by Burnsville city officials as officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth.
The suspect, who has not been identified, was reported dead around 8 a.m., and the family members in the home made it out safely a short time later.

“My heart is heavy for the Burnsville community this morning as three Burnsville officers were shot responding to a domestic incident. Two of the officers have passed away from their injuries, and a medic was also shot and killed,” Mark J. Westpfahl also wrote.

The identities of the victims and the suspect have not been released yet.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident, and a news conference is expected to be held later today.
The shooting has shocked and saddened the community of Burnsville, and the state of Minnesota.
