The website Alpha News identified the shooter, who was killed in the standoff, as Shannon Gooden Burnsville Mn. Authorities confirmed the ID late Monday.

The website wrote on X: “Several sources have identified Shannon Cortez Gooden, 38, as the deceased suspect in the shooting today that killed 2 Burnsville police officers and a fire medic. He petitioned to have his gun rights restored in 2020 in relation to a 2008 felony assault conviction,”

The post went viral and got numerous replies, some confirming the information released by Alpha News.

“Cops were called because the mother found him r*ping a 14 year old,” one of the first comments on the X post said.

Backing up this information, the source shared a snippet from a MNCrime.com article which said authorities were called to the the residence located on the 12600 block of 33rd Avenue in Burnsville initially for a domestic incident, but that the suspect had a warrant out for second-degree criminal s*xual conduct.

During the standoff in Burnsville, officers attempted negotiations but Shannon Gooden Mn had seven children hostage in the home and access to multiple firearms.

When officers breached the home, he fired, killing two police officers and the paramedic.

The X page CrimeWatchMPLS also reported that Gooden was the deceased gunman, confirming the report from Alpha News.

They wrote on X: “We’ve received the same info from other sources. Information during the Burnsville standoff this morning also indicated that Shannon was wanted or was to be arrested for 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct,”

Shannon Gooden Cortez of Burnsville Mn was identified as the perp. He died in the standoff.

Scanner audio indicates the standoff began around 2:30 a.m. at the residence located on the 12600 block of 33rd Avenue in Burnsville.

When they arrived, they encountered a man armed with a gun, who started shooting at them.

Officers made entry into the home where they encountered the suspect in a hallway armed with a rifle, according to initial information.

The suspect opened fire, striking multiple officers.

Dispatch audio from the tragedy was posted on Facebook. “He’s waiting in the hall waiting for an ambush,” an officer says in the audio.

“We have three officers shot,” an officer said. Another said there were “rifle shots out of the house. I want to know where this evac is going to be for our officers. Is anybody trying to make contact with this guy?”

“Have the ambulance back up,” an officer said. “We need more armor,” said another. “We’re all pinned down,” said an officer.

“Both top windows. He’s moving left and right. Heavy gunfire from the front,” the officer said, when asked where the gunfire was coming from. “Don’t let them get any closer. The ambulance needs to turn its lights off.”

The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association released this statement on the incident:

Two officers with the Burnsville Police Department and one first responder were shot and killed early Sunday morning while responding to a domestic abuse call for assistance.

Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association Executive Director Brian Peters said, “We are heartbroken. Our law enforcement community is heartbroken. We’re just devastated at the horrific loss. These heroes leave behind loved ones and a community who will forever remember their bravery and dedication to keeping Minnesotans safe.”

Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS) Executive Director Jim Mortenson said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the officers and first responder who responded to a domestic call this morning. These officers were struck down while answering the call of duty to serve and protect. Of Ruge, the release said: “Ruge, 27, joined the Burnsville Police Department in April 2020. He was part of the department’s crisis negotiations team and was a physical evidence officer,”
