A final year Nigerian medical student, Uzaifa Halilu Modachi has sadly died two weeks after returning home from the Ukraine.
Uzaifa returned to Nigeria from war-torn Ukraine just a couple of weeks ago.
Sadly, he died merely a fortnight after returning to Nigeria.
Uzaifa’s father, a serving member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, revealed the sad news.
Honourable Habibu Haliru Modachi revealed his son hasn’t returned home in 3 years since travelling to Ukraine for his studies.
He died two weeks after returning to Nigeria as one of 40 students evacuated from Ukraine just at the start of the war.
“Alhamdu Lilah, God gives and take away life, and that’s how he wanted it to happen, there is no doubt about it,” he said.
“Had it been he died in Ukraine so many things would be said about him, that he was either killed by the Russian bombardment or had an accident or even accidentally shot and killed by the Ukrainian Army.
“We are grateful to God for having him die before us, we also thank the Nigerian government particularly Sokoto state for taking a hasty decision to evacuate them before the full escalation of the War in Ukraine,” the bereaved father said.
The late medical student was in his final year at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University Ukraine.
