A Nigerian man in Canada, Adeola Omo Adeyemi, exposed the racist practices of Canadian airline company Flair Airlines after his wife suffered an ordeal.
Adeola revealed that a white woman stole his wife’s seat on Flair Airlines flight F8804 from Vancouver to Calgary on Friday, April 14th 2023.
Despite the clear theft of the seat which he had booked for his wife, the Airline did nothing to move the trespasser from his wife’s seat and instead tried to bully her to accept a separate seat.
An enraged Adeola narrated what happened in a post shared to the social media site, Twitter.
According to him, he booked a flight for his wife, who is a nursing mother with a 12-week-old baby and his mother to come and see him.
He booked two seats for them which were next to each other so they can sit together.
However, Adeola narrates that when they got to their flight, there was a white woman sitting in one of their seats.
Despite calling the attention of the flight crew to the woman in her seat, they refused to get her out of the seat after a few attempts failed.
Instead, they turned their attention to his wife, who has a 12-week-old baby, and his 67-year-old frail mother to get them to rather change their seats.
They refused to do so since that will entail them not sitting together but the Flair Airlines staff continued pressuring them to do so.
Astonishingly, they started berating the nursing mother for being disruptive all while leaving the white lady who stole the seat alone and doing nothing to move her.
Eventually, the flight moved only after other passengers gave up their seats for Adeola’s wife and mother to sit together and they trespasser got to enjoy the entire flight in her stolen seat!
The angry Nigerian took to Twitter to call out Flair Airlines following the incident.
He shared a video narrating what happened, adding photos of the offending white woman.
“Racism and Discrimination in Canada. This woman took my wife’s seat, refused to get up when approached, gave my wife the middle finger afterwards, and staff of @FlairAirlines did nothing. They even threatened to eject my wife, mother and 12 weeks old baby from the plane,” he said.
The Nigerian added a video of the incident in the plane which was recorded by his wife as Flair Airlines staff berated her rather than the white woman who took someone else’s seat.
He captioned the second video: “For demanding to seat on a seat they paid for! This is injustice and no other explanation makes sense other than the fact that it was discriminatory,”
Adeola then added photos of the offending woman with the caption: “Internet, please do your thing. All I want is to just find this woman. Everybody who has to have a dealing with her needs to know the kind of a horrible person she is. Taking the seat of a nursing mother with a 12 week old baby and giving her the middle finger as well,”
