Nigerian UFC Champion Kamaru Usman has landed a role in the upcoming second instalment in the Black Panther franchise.
Kamaru Usman, the UFC Welterweight Champion, would appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the follow-up to Marvel’s massive Black Panther from 2018.
Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, confirmed the news to USA Today.
The news of Kamaru’s involvement was initially broached by former UFC Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Champion and current announcer, Daniel Cormier.
Cormier revealed during the UFC 277 weigh-in show on ESPN+ early Friday, July 29th 2022 that Usman would appear in the new movie.
Kamaru Usman Black Panther character and role has yet to be confirmed.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theatres on November 11th 2022.
It is the sequel to the original Black Panther which was the box office hit of 2018.
As you may well know, the original Black Panther actor, Chadwick Boseman won’t reprise his role as King T’Challa after unfortunately losing his life to cancer in 2020.
Who is Kamaru Usman
Kamaru Usman is a Nigerian professional mixed martial art (MMA) fighter who currently fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Known as ‘The Nigerian Nightmare, Usman is currently the UFC Welterweight Champion, a title he’s had since March 2nd 2019.
He is a former winner of the Ultimate Fighter 21 tournament and is currently ranked #1 pound for pound – hence the best fighter in the UFC.
Kamaru was born Kamarudeen Usman on May 11th 1987 in Auchi, Nigeria.
His family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1995 when Usman was eight years old.
He holds dual citizenship as an American citizen.

On July 30th 2022, it was confirmed that the Nigerian mixed martial artist would appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Kamaru’s role and character in the movie currently remains unknown.
