Elon Musk named a new chief executive of Twitter just over six months after his controversial takeover of the social media company.

The billionaire said Linda Yaccarino, the former head of advertising at NBCUniversal, would oversee business operations at the site.

She starts her job in six weeks!

Musk previewed this change a day prior, writing that he had found a new boss without revealing their identity.

With less than 9% of Fortune 500 tech companies headed by women, Ms Yaccarino will become that rare example of a woman at the top of a major tech firm after a career working in America’s biggest companies.

Linda Yaccarino is an American media executive and businesswoman who is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter.

Prior to her new role as Twitter CEO, Linda Yaccarino worked as chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal. Periods of her time there overlapped with disgraced executive Jeff Shell.

Linda Yaccarino was born in New York in the United States several decades ago to an Italian-American family with a father who was a police officer and a mother who never went to college. She hails from Sea Cliff, NY.

She had her early education at some unknown institutions before proceeding to Penn State University she graduated with honours.

After her college education, she started her career as a college intern at NBCUniversal’s media planning department.
