Jayden Samari Reed, 18, has been identified as the victim of a shooting in Waldorf, Md, that left one person dead and another critically injured.

A man died and another was injured in a shooting in Waldorf on Saturday night.

Officials responded to the sound of gunshots at about 8:40 p.m. in the 11300 block of Snow Owl Place.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot inside a car.

The man, identified as Jayden Samari Reed of Waldorf, died as first responders were aiding him.

According to police, shots were fired during a possible drug transaction that left 18-year-old Jayden Samari Reed dead.

Officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office found a second victim suffering from life threatening injuries.

He was flown by Maryland State Police, Trooper 7, to a nearby trauma center for treatment.

The Waldorf shooting follows a recent similar incident in New Brunswick, NJ that left one man killed.

Upon their arrival, officers located two male victims, both who sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Robert Wood Hospital for treatment.

Numi Simmons, 23, of New Brunswick, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Waldorf is a census-designated place in Charles County, Maryland, United States. Located 23 miles (37 km) south-southeast of Washington, D.C., Waldorf is part of Southern Maryland.

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cold winters. The area gets yearly snowfall, but only gets major blizzards every few years.
