40-Year-Old James Stewart Arrested for Murder after Fatal Shooting at Columbia Township Bar

A man was shot and killed during an altercation at a Columbia Township bar Friday night.

James Arthur Stewart, 40, of Olmsted Township, was arrested and charged with murder and a slew of other charges for the fatal shooting.

According to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Joker’s Pub and Grub at 10:51 p.m. Friday for reports of a shooting.

Deputies found a man shot when they arrived on the scene.

He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Investigators believe there was an altercation between the victim and James Stewart, leading to Stewart shooting the victim.

Stewart was arrested at the scene and taken to the Lorain County Jail.

He faces charges of murder, using a weapon while intoxicated, possession of a firearm in a bar and attempt to commit an offense.

According to jail records, he is being held without bond awaiting his initial trial date.
