Kai Cenat’s Global Pursuit has been likened to Rush Hour 4 – mostly due to the African-American and Asian leads in a buddy cop movie but also the fact that the streamer himself heavily leans into it with the trailer accompanied by the song ‘War’.
As fans of the Rush Hour movies know, War plays a very prominent role in the movie and it’s one of its most unique identifiers.

Global Pursuit is a new buddy cop movie to be released by popular U.S. Twitch streamer Kai Cenat and a Japanese friend, Ray.
Recall that last month, Cenat posted several viral streams taken during the period of his first-ever trip to Japan with fellow creators like Fanum.
They explored Tokyo’s vibrant streets and during this time they met Ray, a Japanese local who was a big fan of the Cenat. The duo immediately hit it off.
Now, Cenat has tapped into that connection to rope Ray in to record a new movie.
Aside Kai Cenat and Ray, the movie will also see a cameo appearance by Lil Yachty.
Global Pursuit Kai Cenat started trending on Twitter worldwide after the streamer released the trailer for the new movie on Wednesday, August 23 2023 on his YouTube channel.
The trailer sees Kai Cenat and Ray acting as two buddy cops as they undergo a sting operation in the style of ‘Rush Hour,’.
The popular Rush Hour series of movies starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker and was a global hit.
Kai Cenat appears intent on tapping into that with this new offering, putting many similarities between his movie and the original Rush Hour.
Due to this, fans have already started tagging the movie Global Pursuit by Kai Cenat as Rush Hour 4.
The similarities are staggering – both are buddy cop movies with an African-American and Asian lead. They both contain heavily contrived scenarios to generate comedy.
There’s also the fact that Kai Cenat used the song ‘War’ by Edwin Starr to promote the trailer – a song that is associated with Rush Hour more than any other movie.
“This looks like rush hour but younger! Feel like this is gonna pop off,” X user @rawswaggatv wrote in reaction to the trailer.
It’s expected that Global Pursuit will premiere on Kai Cenat’s main YouTube channel on August 25, 2023.
This means the upcoming short film will probably be free of cost and can be watched on the video-sharing platform itself.
Cenat has acted in several comedy skits over the years but this would be his first real acting appearance and fans cannot wait to watch it!
Global Pursuit by Kai Cenat draws Rush Hour 4 comparisons
The new Global Pursuit movie from Kai Cenat is being dubbed Rush Hour 4 by fans.
Many similarities have been picked up by fans on the movie and thus reactions on social media have mainly centred on that fact.
“This wants to be rush hour SO bad 😭,” X user @Etsy4EVR wrote after the page Dexerto shared the trailer on the platform (formerly Twitter).
“Rush hour 2.0,” another X user, @DaConstrict said.
Not everyone was complimentary, with X user @RussFcb describing the movie as ‘Trash Hour 4’.
“That’s a total copy of the Rush Hour. Literally even the accents and characters 🤦♀️ these clowns should be sued for that,” X user @mysillyX also added.
The irony is (or maybe not irony), fans might not have to wait too long to see the actual Rush Hour 4.
Whilst Global Pursuit Kai Cenat is being compared to Rush Hour, Jackie Chan has hinted that Rush Hour 4 itself is in development.
The iconic action star shared the news during an appearance at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia in December 2022, Complex reports.
According to Variety, Chan spoke to fans about his film career during the festival, including his role in Rush Hour, the 1998 buddy action comedy co-starring Chris Tucker.
He told fans that another sequel was in the works. “We’re talking about Rush Hour 4 right now,” he added.
Chan didn’t confirm any more details – including whether Chris Tucker would be involved or not – but it’s unfathomable that could be the case.
Tucker himself had also teased a fourth instalment back in 2018, suggesting he and Chan would reprise their roles as Detective James Carter and Detective Inspector Lee, respectively.
“It’s happening,” Tucker said on ESPN’s The Plug podcast.
“This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”
Though Rush Hour is now considered a beloved classic, Chan admits he was surprised by its commercial and critical success.
“I got a phone call. [Director] Brett Ratner and Chris Tucker call me from New York. They’re crazy. We were $70 million in the first weekend,” Chan recalled.
“For me, I don’t know how to count.”

Cenat was arrested by the NYPD for inciting civil unrest; police also made 65 other arrests.
He was later charged by the NYPD with first-degree rioting, inciting a riot, and unlawful assembly.
