Frederick Leonard, also known as Freddie Leonard, is a Nigerian actor, model, filmmaker and trained biochemist, popular as one of the most sought-after leading men in the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood.
Frederick Nnaemeka Leonard was born to Mr and Mrs Leonard on 1st May 1980 in Nnewi in Anambra State in south-eastern Nigeria. He is of the Igbo tribe.in 2001 where he played brief one scene roles
He is the firstborn child of his parents in a family of four consisting of two children, a mother and a father. Leonard was born decades before his younger sister, but her arrival completed their family of four.
Their family relocated from Anambra to Lagos State when he was still a child.
He received his primary education in St Peter’s Anglican Primary School, Alausa, Ikeja In Lagos State and attended Oregun High School in Oregun, Ikeja In Lagos State also for secondary education.
In a bid to obtain a degree, Leonard relocated once more, this time to Kaduna State In Northern Nigeria where he applied to Kaduna Polytechnic.
He was accepted and eventually graduated with a degree in biochemistry.
Leonard started his acting career in 2001 when he made a cameo in a movie. However, he soon had to take a break to go back to school to complete his tertiary education.
He returned to Nollywood in 2008 and obtained his first-ever lead role when he was cast in a movie titled Indian Doctor.
A year later, he ventured into television when he starred in a Nigerian TV soap opera series titled Disclosure which aired predominantly on Africa Magic on DSTV.
Leonard transitioned from acting to production with a romantic comedy titled Grey which he released in 2018. He subsequently produced the movie Void in 2019, his second-ever production.
“I just love to tell stories because no matter how much we try to form strong and firm, we all need love in our lives,” Leonard told This Day in a 2019 interview ahead of the premiere of Void.
Void starred Frederick Leonard himself in the lead role alongside Chioma Akpotha, Lota Chukwu, Ayo Adesanya and Empress Njamah.
As an Actor, Frederick is driven by his passion for the Arts and firmly believes in impacting society at large with the delivery of his superlative and endearing talent which has thereby brought to his gains several awards, including Best Actor AFRIFIMO AWARDS and Best Supporting Actor GIAMA AWARDS.

He has described the loss of his mother as creating a void in his life that might never get filled!
In the year 2000 at the age of 20, the actor lost his father. That left him alone with his sister and mother and grew his bond with his mother even closer.
However, he then lost his mother as well, depriving him of his biggest supporter in life.
Frederick Lenoard has revealed in interviews how much his mother shaped him and what her death in 2016 did to him, shattering something in him that has never returned.
Speaking to This Day in 2019, Leonard revealed: “My mom had me in her early 20s. So it’s pretty more like we grew up together. I didn’t just lose a mom, I lost my best friend, I lost my gossip partner, I lost the love of my life, I lost the centre of my world. I do not think anyone can fill that void.
“The death of my mom hurts more than any other thing…It’s been hard and tough living without her but I am happy she saw a bit of the stardom. I am happy she saw a bit of what she worked so hard for,”
