One neighbour reportedly went over and told him to stop firing his gun but he balked, followed them home and committed his heinour crime.

“The neighbours walked over and said … ‘Hey man, can you not do that, we’ve got an infant in here trying to sleep’ or whatever,” Sheriff Greg Capers said, per the Washington Post. “They went back in their house and then we have a video of him walking up their driveway with his AR-15.”

He opened fire into the house killing five, including an 8-year-old child and a 15-year-old girl! Two female victims were found in the bedroom lying on top of two children who survived the ordeal. Police say there were trying to protect the children.

“The Honduran ladies that were laying over these children were doing it in such an effort as to protect the child,” Sherif Capers said

Mr Oropeza fled the scene after the violence, but has since been surrounded by law enforcement, NPR reports.

The shooter has been described as 5’8” Hispanic male, last seen wearing blue jeans with a black shirt and work boots and with short black hair.

Francisco Oropeza was in the United States illegally from Mexico. He had been deported at least twice before the tragedy.

He is wanted on five counts of murder and policed have set bond at $5m.

The Cleveland Texas shooting is a 2023 mass shooting that occurred in Cleveland, a city about 55 miles north of Houston.

Five people died after being shot in a home by a suspect armed with AR-15 style rifle on Friday April 29th 2023.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:31 p.m. local time on the 100 block of Walters Road in the Trails End area in the community about 45 miles (72 kilometres) northeast of Houston.

officials from the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office received a call about harassment in Cleveland, Texas — a small town located about 55 miles north of Houston.

But when authorities arrived at the location they found several victims shot at the property, police said.

“The Mexican male subject, he has been known to shoot his 223 out in his front yard, which is evident by the shell casings that are laying in the front yard,” said the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office.

At least 10 people were in the home when police arrived on scene and all of the victims were between the ages of eight and 40-years-old.

“My understanding is that the victims, they came over to the fence and said ‘Hey could [you not do your] shooting out in the yard? We have a young baby that’s trying to go to sleep,” and he had been drinking and he says ‘I’ll do what I want to in my front yard,’” San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers told KTRK.

Capers told KTRK the case went from harassment to a shooting very quickly. He said the shooter was drinking that night; police dispatchers initially confirmed the shooter was intoxicated.

He said that authorities believed some of the victims were trying to shield their children — with bodies found on top of children who were unharmed.

The five victims were identified during a Saturday evening press conference as Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Daniel Enrique Laso Guzman, 8; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31; and Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18.

“San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are currently investigating a mass shooter incident in the 100 block of Walters Road in the Trails End area of Cleveland,” a statement from Sherif Capers’ office read.

“Night shift patrol deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to an harassment complaint. While enroute, the communications center received multiple 911 calls of an active shooter incident at the dispatch location. Multiple deputies arrived at the residence and located multiple victims deceased in a resident and several others in critical condition from multiple gunshot wounds.

“At this time, there are 4 people confirmed deceased inside of the residence. It was reported that the 8 year old child was pronounced deceased at the hospital. There were 3 other patients transported to the hospital. Their status is not known at this time. There were 2 additional people inside the residence that were evaluated on scene and released,”

Oropeza is considered armed and dangerous, do not approach or attempt to apprehend. Contact local authorities immediately,”
